The Nexus line has seen its ups and downs, particularly on the tablet side, but Google seem determined to push it forward and remain with an active presence in the market. According to many, this is an important strategy for the company and they should not abandon it.
After all, if Google themselves don’t have their own line of Android devices, that wouldn’t inspire so much confidence in the platform in other manufacturers. It’s true that it took Google some time to join the market, but it could also be argued that they’ve had a noticeable positive impact on it since then.
For now though, they seem to be taking a somewhat safer approach. Instead of innovating with any crazy features, they just have a stable line of releases that represents everything good about Android. At the same time, their devices allow users to experience the operating system as it was meant to be, without any bloatware added on by manufacturers – a common problem in the Android market at the moment.
Some have argued that Google could change that and take a more aggressive approach to their development, coming up with more unusual ideas and experimenting more. But for now, this strategy obviously works fine for them, and they have no real reason to change it. In some time, when the market sees some changes, then maybe it will be a different story.
