There’s something strange going on behind the scenes of “Girl Meets World”, and recent rumors about the show have been anything but positive. In fact, many fans are expecting the announcement that the show has been cancelled, and this seems to be supported by various reports that have cropped up lately, such as those of some important actors leaving the production.
Most recently, we saw a hint from August Mauro that the show might not be renewed for a new season after the current one is over. Then there are the titles of the episodes for season 3 itself, which seem to tell a story of their own.
While all episodes until the end of the season will follow the show’s classic formula of “Girl Meets X”, it’s the last one that has made some fans worried that the show could be coming to an end. Season 3 will apparently end with an episode titled “Girl Meets Goodbye”, which many fans have taken as a clear sign of what’s to come.
Not all actors on the show seem so pessimistic though, such as Auggie Matthews, who claimed that he doesn’t want to say goodbye just yet. Of course, actors rarely have any input when it comes to the continuation (or cancellation) of a show, especially one as popular as this.
If the producers have already made up their minds on the subject (or if the network has), then there’s nothing that can be done. Fans can only enjoy the remaining episodes and remember the show for the good times it gave them. Perhaps in the future we could see a spin-off or a more different production that involves some of the important actors from “Girl Meets World”.
There is another rumor on the horizon, and it’s a bit more positive than the other things being said about the show right now. It’s possible that “Girl Meets World” isn’t going to be cancelled, but rather moved to another channel as it no longer fits its target audience.
It’s true that the show started as a story about a girl growing up to face the harsh reality of the world around her, and the ages of some actors make them somewhat unsuitable for their intended roles at this point. But at the same time, the story could definitely continue on another channel with a slight change of the formula in order to make the presentation a bit more “adult”.
That’s something which most fans probably won’t mind, as the show’s followers themselves have also aged since the first season, and they’ll probably be more interested in a change of the tone like that. This could also have been the main motivating factor behind the network’s alleged decision to remove the show from its current channel.
But for now, fans should focus on what’s coming up in the remaining episodes of the current season. It looks like the producers are planning to keep things dynamic until the very end, and there’s actually a major fight coming up between some characters which should stir things up.
The preview implied that Riley will face significant issues with her family, and this could possibly lead to a major falling out between them. Whether this is something that will last until the end of the season or just a temporary development remains to be seen, but we trust that the producers aren’t going to conclude the show’s run on a negative note after all.
