Girl Meets World Gets PGA Awards Nomination After Being Cancelled, Will Netflix Renew It?

All of it was quite impressive, but there was a single flaw in the entire concept of creating a sequel to Boy Meets World. It was going against the natural tendency for the follow-up series to get an older average audience while they attract viewers of the original who have aged with time. In the case of a sequel, Full House migrated from ABC, a broadcast network to an SVOD service, the popular Netflix, which runs on an engaged audience, in fact, any audience.

Boy Meets World went from ABC which usually targets adults at the age of 18-49, to the younger Disney Channel audience, comprising of kids of ages 6 to 14. A lot of viewers came in through nostalgia. What Girl Meets World successfully managed to do with parents and older teens, they failed to do the same with younger kids since they didn’t find it quite relevant.

Longmire also faced similar problems at A&E, which resulted in the shocking cancellation of the drama after three seasons.

It was the network’s most-watched original scripted series of all time since its audience was older-skewing and not in the demo range that advertisers were paying to catch. It didn’t seem to be a problem for Netflix, and after some time, they managed to pick up.

Is it possible that Netflix will come in and save Girl Meets World with a renewal in the form of Season 4? Reports indicate that Netflix was approached, but there were no successful conversations going on.

During an interview with TV Line, Michael Jacobs, the creator of Girl Meets World, said that talks are underway.
