Ghostbusters 3 has been talked about for many, many years and even though that is the case, there was one thing that was never going to happen. Bill Murray was never going to play a role in the new movie should it ever get passed the written script stages. With that being said, maybe the third installment to the series was never going to come, but that does not seem to be the case. Over the last few months, there have been plenty of things to talk about in regards to the new movie.
Besides the speculation that the movie was going to be all CGI, or the fact that it might be a reboot directed by Judd Apatow, the movie rumor sites had plenty of content to share with eager readers. If you are under 20 years old, you might have never even seen the first two films and that is just another indicator that maybe the series should just stay with the two it ended with.
In recent news, the release date of the movie and the cast news hit the web. There have also been countless interviews with the original cast members about the new movie and what they think about it. Dan Aykroyd says that he is excited to see the “torch passed” with the wonderful all female cast that was announced recently. Ernie Hudson does not know how he feels about the reboot and the all female cast, but changed his tone on Twitter recently.
The all female cast is no big deal and most of the movie lovers out there might not even care that much about it. Director Paul Feig posted on Twitter last month that the cast would include Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, who are both from Saturday Night Live. Even though all four woman are very funny in their own ways, the critics are not sure they can step up to the likes of Bill Murray, Ernia Hudson, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis.
Bill Murray, even though he said he did not want to do the movie, did have a comment or two about the all female cast. According to sources, Murray said “Melissa would be a spectacular Ghostbuster”, then he went on to talk about Kristen Wiig saying that she is “so funny”, but that is about from the usually quiet Murray. There might be a feeling that some want the movie to fail, but nonetheless, it is a go and the movie is expected to be in theaters by the end of July of next year.
