Ghostbusters 3 Director Promises Film Will Live up to Fans’ Memories, Sheds Light on All-Female Cast Decision!

The fallout from the recent attacks on Sony can still be felt throughout the Internet, and it has affected various projects and people. “Ghostbusters 3” fans managed to get some fresh information about the upcoming film, and while it looked to be mostly good, there were still some details that seemed worrying to some – mainly the decision to replace the cast with an all-female one.

However, according to a recent statement by director Paul Feig, fans of the franchise have nothing to worry about – everyone on board for the new film knows exactly what they’re doing, and the crew has a very specific idea for how they want the new production to turn out. And, according to Feig, if everything works out according to plan, the new film should not only not be a disappointment to classic fans, but it should actually give them something quite exciting to refresh their love for the franchise.

Among the actresses that have been named as potential cast members in various leaked Sony e-mails were names like Emma Stone, Melissa McCarthy, Lizzy Caplan and more. On the other hand, various prominent male actors have also expressed an interest in taking part in the production, including Gillian Anderson, and, perhaps somewhat surprisingly, Ryan Gosling, who’s not exactly an actor most film fans would expect to see in the next “Ghostbusters”, but anything can happen.

Feig seems to be worried about the general public opinion that the all-female cast is a gimmick move without any real merit. He seems convinced that the decision is a very adequate one, and will really change the landscape for the better – although it’s not clear if this is a one-time experiment, or it’s something that will potentially carry over to future productions in the franchise.

Feig also explained why the film is not a direct sequel, and that was actually related to the above statements – according to the director, he has a lot of respect for those who made the original films a reality, and he doesn’t want to interfere with their legacy by calling his own film a continuation of their work. Plus, with the change of the cast and the way some old fans have been receiving it, tying the new film to the old ones could also potentially alienate some fans before the film has even launched, which can certainly never be good for sales and popularity in the long run. And from what it seems, the new “Ghostbusters” is definitely shaping up to be a film that will deserve a very solid chance by all viewers, both those who’ve enjoyed the old ones, as well as newcomers.
