‘Gears of War 4’ Latest Trailer Introduces Game Protagonist J.D. Fenix and a New Menace!

The latest trailer of the third-person shooter video game “Gears of War” has been released by publisher Microsoft Studios and it introduced new game protagonist in J.D. Fenix as well as a new menace.

J.D. is the son of Marcus Fenix, who is the hero of the first three “Gears of War” video games. But whatever he is up against, it seems that it would not be a walk in the park for him as the trailer hinted that it looks very nasty and very undead at minimum feral, notes Polygon.

Incidentally, Marcus also showed up in the trailer in J.D.’s childhood flashback but that is the most where he will be as “Gears of War 4” would all be his son’s show, along with some friends.

The latest trailer of the highly-anticipated video game to be released on the Xbox One and the PC actually took a page from the first game’s landmark “Mad World” trailer released back in 2006. It also used a pensive and sorrowful melody in “The Sound of Silence” by Simon & Garfunkel and covered by Disturbed.

The video actually mixes exaggerated and dramatic visuals with a sad song, which is the song of the moment, having debuted in the Billboard Top 100 recently because of Sad Affleck, notes The Verge.

The teaser trailer for “Gears of War 4,” developed by The Coalition, was aired during the Season 2 premiere of the apocalyptic drama TV series “Fear the Walking Dead” that aired on AMC on April 10.

It is the fourth main installment of the game but is actually the fifth installment in the “Gears of War” series. Microsoft Studios has already announced that the game will be released exclusively on the Microsoft gaming console and the PC on October 11, 2016 featuring an all-new cast of heroes.

Multiplayer beta coming soon

It has already been announced by both the game developer and publisher that a multiplayer beta of “Gears of War 4” will be released on April 24.

However, early access to the multiplayer beta shall be provided on April 18 for those gamers who will play “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” on the PC or Xbox One beginning on April 11.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers will get the multiplayer beta of “Gears of War 4” on April 24 and will run until May 1, notes The Verge.

Based on previous information already provided by Microsoft Studios and The Coalition, “Gears of War 4” shall take place 25 years after the Imulsion Countermeasure weapon destroyed the Locust, Lambent, and Imulsion during “Gears of War 3.”

However, the destruction also knocked out fossil fuels, forcing humanity to adapt new ways for survival. It also caused Windflares, which are powerful windstorms that have formed across the planet.

Martial law among surviving humans

In the aftermath of the Lambent Epidemic, the reformed Coalition of Governments estimated that hundreds of thousands of humans are left on the Sera.

And in order to prevent human population from further declining, cities that are walled in were built to protect the citizens from the dangers outside. But the Coalition of Governments also declared martial law and prevented any form of travel outside of the cities’ walls.

As expected, some human survivors rejected the viewpoints and the martial rule of the Coalition of Governments and formed a group called the ‘Outsiders’ who live outside of the COG jurisdiction. The group also conducts raids on COG territory to gather resources.

“Gears of War 4” focuses on J.D. Fenix alongside his friends Delmont ‘Del’ Walker and Kait Diaz dealing with a new threat to humanity’s survival.

A lot of gameplay elements from the previous “Gears of War” games are retained such as taking cover to avoid damage and performing active reloads.

There is also the new feature called the Combat Knife which can be used for melee attacks and also allows gamers new ways to perform executions.
