Gamers Need to be in the Offensive and not Defensive on ‘Bloodborne’!

“Bloodborne,” one of the most widely anticipated action role playing video games, will be coming to exclusively to Sony’s PlayStation 4 on March 24, 2015.

Game developer From Software says that in order for gamers to fully enjoy the game, they should be on the offensive mode instead of playing on the defensive.

The company explains that players who would opt to play it safe in the game by utilizing the shield so much would eventually find themselves getting killed in the game early or again and again, notes PlayStation Lifestyle.

Masaaki Yamagiwa, producer of Sony Japan, confirmed that the game shall indeed feature shields because earlier gameplay trailer and videos of “Bloodborne” did not show players being equipped with such weapon.

Need to be aggressive

Yamagiwa however says that players who shall rely heavily on shields will find themselves dying quickly in the game. The Japanese executive added that what From Software wants is for gamers to be play “Bloodborne” in an aggressive approach.

He explained that playing with the defensive stance of standing back and being on guard most of the time in “Bloodborne,” will result to a quick death in the game. Yamagiwa said that a defensive strategy on the game is playing to lose and not to win.

The Sony Japan executive explained that shields are designed for a purpose so it is important for gamers to incorporate it into their fighting strategies to make their approach an offensive-defensive style. He adds that From Software wants players to really be pro-active in “Bloodline” and not take the wait-and-see or hide approach strategy.

Less punishing for gamers

Published by Sony Computer Entertainment, “Bloodborne” is a hack and slash single-player video game, with online multiplayer co-op gameplay.

From Software formally launched the game during the Gamescon 2014 where it mentioned that game would be less punishing for gamers. That had some of the gamers a bit disappointed because many are looking it to be a slam-bang type of action role playing game.

“Bloodborne” will have similar action role-playing elements found in the video games “Demon’s Souls” and “Dark Souls” which are also developed by From Software.

In terms of plotline, the game takes place in city of Yharnam, a destroyed gothic city that is believed to contain the medical solution to various maladies. Many travellers and pilgrims from all walks of life travel to the city to find the possible cure for their afflictions.

The player takes the role as one of these travellers or pilgrims and he will navigate the streets of Yharnam. He needs to overcome the violently deranged inhabitants and horrifying monsters that have made the city their home in order to survive and find the cure to the affliction.
