If you have never heard of Minecraft before there would be a bunch of people wondering where you have been the last few years. The game is everywhere and that includes on most mobile devices around the world. In recent news, the creator of the popular building game made a monster bid to pick up one of the most extreme homes in Beveryly Hills. The mansion is huge and the creator of the most popular game, Markus Persson, paid a cool $70 million for it.
For those that know the game, that might not even be the coolest part about it. That story broke about one week ago and this week it looks like the mansion was recreated within the Minecraft game. Persson was in a bidding war with Jay-Z and his popular singer of a wife according to sources and now that he owns it, there was only a matter of time before it winded up in the game that he created.
As an extreme coder, Persson built the block building game back in 2009 and that is when it was published by a Swedish company called Mojang. Mojang was recently purchased by Microsoft for a cool $2 billion and now Persson is going around spending his money like a madman. In the game, the mansion was re-built by a fan and by looking at the images it is quite amazing how much of a resemblance there is. Minecraft allows players to get very creative with building block, much like they would if they played with Legos. The game sold more than 50 million copies on all platforms and every smartphone on the market.
Kids are playing the game, learning how to build and one day, cities, stadiums and countries might be built using the Minecraft simulator. The game requires players to mine through a block filled world before they can build whatever they please. While you are mining you are watching out for spiders and zombies that can get in the way of your creativity.
The mansion was created in the game by Dan Bovey, who creates and lives in the United Kingdom. Bovey posts much of his work to his YouTube channel, BoveyBrawlers. Minecraft has blown up in popularity and can be seen referenced in many places and sold in millions of stores around the world. While being called the “Lego of videogaming”, Minecraft was featured as a micro Lego building sets and they were just as popular as the game. At one point this year it was rumored that Minecraft was going to be released as a movie, but those rumors were put to bed when the producers could not agree on a direction the movie should go.
