Season 7 of the HBO-hit series “Game of Thrones” seems to be heading in the direction that fans have been speculating about since it is going to be the penultimate season and the TV series is about to move to the end game.
In addition to a possible alliance with Daenerys Targaryen to defeat Cersei Lannister for the iron throne, Jon Snow, the new King of the North, would be getting a new set of allies in the upcoming seventh season.
Based on some behind-the-set photos in Iceland shared on social media recently, Jon Snow will be working together with the Brotherhood Without Banners, which was briefly featured in Season 6 during the episode that also saw the return of Sandor Clegane, also known as the Hound.
In that episode, the Hound has agreed to join the Brotherhood Without Banners and it looks like in Season 7, they would show up to align with the new King of the North.
It would be difficult for the Hound to align with the Lannisters since he believes that they are responsible for the killing of the community who nurtured him back to health. That’s in addition to the fact that there is no love lost between him and his brother, Gregor Clegane, also known as the Mountain.
A new member of the brotherhood
Interestingly, Gendry, the bastard son of Robert Baratheon, who was last seen in Season 3 being asked by Ser Davos Seaworth to escape via the sea because Melisandre wants to offer him as a sacrifice to the Lord of Light to ensure the success of Stannis Baratheon, is going to be back in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones.”
As the behind-the-scene shots showed Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow, and Joe Dempsie, who plays Gendry, and also Paul Kaye, who plays Thoros of Myr, some fans have already pieced it together to say that Gendry may have escaped Dragonstone and joined the Brotherhood Without Banners, reports iDigital Times.
Because he is the bastard son of Robert Baratheon, Gendry seems to be the connective tissue between a number of different factions in “Game of Thrones” Season 7, notes Raw Story.
Sometime in October last year, Joe Dempsie as Gendry was spotted filming at a Spanish shooting location with Tyrion Lannister and Ser Davos Seaworth.
Whatever Gendry’s role is going to be, it looks like Season 7 will see a united front of Jon Snow and Daenerys’ people, plus other smaller factions like the wildlings and the Brotherhood Without Banners that may already include the bastard son of Robert Baratheon.
As “Game of Thrones” approaches its end game, it looks as if much clearer battle lines will be drawn.
A misdirect leak?
Sometime last year, a major leak for the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” Season 7 took the internet by storm and many believed that it was the real deal.
However, some people, who claimed to be insiders in the production of arguably the most popular TV series today, say that the leak was a misdirect and that those were meant only to get people into talking about the upcoming seventh season of “Game of Thrones.”
Back then, the most important information that was revealed was the supposed romantic tryst between Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, since they have a common goal in bringing down Cersei Lannister from the iron throne in King’s Landing.
In the absence of the sixth book from the fantasy novel series of critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin, it seems that the spoiler is accurate especially considering the fact that the title of the novel is “A Song of Ice and Fire,” which could very well be the union of ice and fire.
Every fan of “Game of Thrones” knows that ice is represented by Jon Snow, and he is now the new King of the North after reclaiming Winterfell from Ramsay Bolton and his army. Daenerys, on the other hand, is known as the Mother of Dragons, and thus represents fire.
