Among the Stark sisters in the HBO hit TV series “Game of Thrones,” Arya, played by Maisie Williams, is the tougher one compared to Sansa, played by Sophie Turner.
While both were victims of circumstances during the previous seasons of “Game of Thrones,” the sixth season of the TV series became their pivot for turning things around for their respective lives and fortunes.
After training and nearly being killed in Braavos in the House of Black and White, Arya Stark sailed back to the North and is already equipped with the right know-how and skills to implement her revenge plans against those whom she perceived to have hurt her family. She was last seen during the Season 6 finale slitting the throat of Walder Frey in Riverun.
It can be recalled that it was Walder Frey who planned the killing of Rob Stark and his pregnant wife, and his mother Lady Catelyn during the so-called ‘Red Wedding’ at Riverun with assistance from Roose Bolton and his army.
Sansa also turned things around in Season 6 which started off with her running away from Winterfell with the help of Brienne of Tarth as they head further north to Castle Black to escape Ramsay Bolton.
While they know that her half-brother Jon Snow was the Lord Commander of the Night Watch, they were not actually aware that he was lying dead at that time after being stabbed numerous times by some of the men of the Night Watch.
Sansa also got her sweet revenge against her very abusive and psychologically imbalanced second husband Ramsay Bolton after Jon Snow and his army defeated the former in the ‘Battle of the Bastards’ with a last minute surprise from the army of the Vale and reclaimed Winterfell.
She had her biggest taste for revenge during the season when she savored the death of the bloodied Ramsay Bolton on the mouths of her own wild and rabid dogs.
The taste for killing shall continue
In a recent interview, Sophie Turner disclosed that her character could become much darker in the upcoming seventh season of “Game of Thrones.”
She said that now that Sansa got a taste of power and has felt the satisfaction of revenge over the death of Ramsay Bolton, her taste for killing shall continue, notes the Metro of UK.
Turner said that Sansa is definitely a lot more powerful and it would be very interesting to see how she would handle it come the upcoming seventh season.
She said that there is a dark side to Sansa Stark which would emerge in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones,” explaining that what fans saw in Season 6 was a mild version of dark Sansa.
Sansa would be playing the game now and she will be ruthless because she has learned that when she wants something, she really wants to go out and get it, adds the 20-year-old actress.
Ending her unlucky streak
Prior to Season 6 of “Game of Thrones,” Sansa has had a horrendous unlucky streak in the show. She has been forced into two arranged marriages and one engagement.
In Season 6, she was reunited with Jon Show and together, they recaptured their family home of Winterfell, notes Stuff of New Zealand.
Sophie Turner adds that Sansa’s taste of power is well-deserved because she did so much for Jon and the North so when she saves the day and did not get any recognition for it, it was like she had her first taste of power and then was immediately stripped of it.
Meanwhile, as if all the hoopla and excitement for the upcoming seventh season of “Game of Thrones” is still not enough, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White has confirmed in a recent TV appearance that the league’s badass Conor McGregor shall also have a mysterious role in the show.
Apparently, it is not just going to be a one-episode role similar to Ian McShane in Season 6 but a role that would last the final two seasons of “Game of Thrones.”
In a recent interview on “Fox Sports Live,” Dana White said that he knew that a few months ago, the producers of “Game of Thrones” were interested in putting McGregor in the show.
White then said that he is just glad that McGregor, who is also Irish like most of the cast members of “Game of Thrones,” did it and that Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” would further benefit from it and so is McGregor.
