‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 Likely to Feature More Deaths; TV Series Now in Production!

The HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” joined the San Diego ComicCon held over the weekend and aside from a presentation panel from the cast members and executive producers, the TV show also launched its production teaser.

As expected, the teaser did not show much but merely production of the props to be used in the upcoming Season 7 of the popular and hit TV series.

But if any, it also hinted that the upcoming Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” shall feature more deaths.

It could be recalled that during the Season 6 penultimate and the final episodes, there were just plenty of deaths in the series especially in light of the Battle of the Bastards for the right to Winterfell, the battle in Mereern, and the rise to the Iron Throne of Cersei Lannister over at King’s Landing vice erstwhile King Tommen.

With the impending battle in King’s Landing between the Lannisters and the mighty flock of Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen, Season 7 could even be bloodier when it finally unveils in the summer of next year.

The production teaser showed the beginning of Cersei’s reign from the Iron Throne including what she did to the nun from the Sparrow while she was still incarcerated by the High Septon.

It is clear though that there will be plenty of continued exploits from Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, and the impending arrival to Winterfell of their two other siblings in Bran and Arya. Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” shall see many more funerals to come and the plethora of eyes painted on stones in the production teaser are indications, reports Refinery 29.

Delay in the release date

What seems to be partially confirmed at this point is the intentional delay in the release date of “Game of Thrones” Season 7 primarily because the production team wanted to wait out the real winter in Ireland before they shoot the scenes featuring the battle between the humans and the white walkers in snow, considering that both the winds of winter and winter have already arrived in the show.

It has already been confirmed that “Game of Thrones” Season 7 shall only have seven episodes.

During the San Diego ComicCon, executive producer David Benioff explained the decision to postpone the Season 7 premiere of “Game of Thrones” from spring to summer of next year because of production considerations, notes USA Today.

He said that the arrival of the dreaded, multi-year winter long predicted for Westeros requires a shift in production, which is not taking place.

Benioff said that winter is upon the TV series and it so happens that they have been shooting in places where there are trees. He explained that they have to wait until the leaves fall off to shoot scenes as winter. With that being said, production of “Game of Thrones” Season 7 could actually finish in February next year.

From February, they certainly cannot complete post-production within the next two months so an April release date is unlikely. Promotions are not going to be an issue with “Game of Thrones” because fans and viewers would surely watch it once it is officially released on HBO.

Enjoying the ComicCon crowd

The “Game of Thrones” San Diego ComicCon panel was represented by Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, Conleth Hill, who plays Lord Varys, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran Stark, Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Missandei, and Iwan Rheon, who played Ramsay Bolton.

Despite the absence of the big-name stars in the show’s presentation panel at the San Diego ComicCon, fans still had a good time, saving their biggest cheers for Kristian Nairn, whose beloved character Hodor died in Season 6 in an effort to protect Bran and Meera Reed, played by Ellie Kendrick, from the white walkers.

Fans shouted ‘Hold the door!’ upon the actor’s introduction which is a reference to how the loving giant constantly repeated his duty to protect Bran by holding the door from the onslaught of white walkers until the words collapsed into Hodor.

Sophie Turner explained about the rising power of Sansa Stark in “Game of Thrones” after seasons of mistreatment and humiliations. The actress said that her character has now become a leader in her own right.
