‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 to See the Legacies of Ned Stark Looming Large!

Season 6 of the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” is set to premiere on April 24 and a minute-long teaser trailer of the show aired on February 14 after “Vinyl.”

The trailer hardly offered anything significant as far as the possible plotline in the upcoming sixth season is concerned as it only featured the Hall of Faces in the House of Black and White.

It showed the head of the departed Ned Stark accompanied by his disembodied voice. Towards the end, the head of Tyrion Lannister was also shown in the hall.

While the trailer may seem to hint the death of the so-called Bill Clinton of Westeros, fans and critics believe that it seems very unlikely. The same shot in the trailer actually featured the busts of Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, Daenerys Targaryen, and Cersei Lannister, characters who are very remotely to die in Season 6 of “Game of Thrones,” notes C/Net.

As the latest teaser trailer of “Game of Thrones” did not offer anything new to fans, and since there is no “The Winds of Winter” for possible spoilers for Season 6 of the widely-followed TV series, most of the speculations rely heavily on leak images from the set.

The return of the Starks

Based on the initial information and image leaks, it seems clear that the upcoming sixth season of “Game of Thrones” will see Ned Stark’s legacy looming large.

In addition to the likely return of Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, from his near-death experience during the Season 5 finale, Brandon Stark, played by Isaac Hempstead-Wright, will also make a comeback in Season 6 of “Game of Thrones.”

One of the image leaks showed Bran Stark standing in the Winterfell courtyard with Max Von Sydow, who plays the Three-Eyed Raven, notes Vanity Fair.

According to reports, Bran will be able to project on his own two feet into the events of his family’s past and possible future too.

An interesting part of the teaser is the presence of Catelyn Stark, played by Michelle Fairley, which seems rather surprising considering that the character already died in Season 3. It may have something to do with the flashback scenes from the past as Bran Stark revisits his family’s history.

A new contender to the iron throne

The iron throne in “Game of Thrones” is currently being held by King Tommei Lannister Baratheon amid claims from other groups.

During Season 5 last year, the claims to the throne have been whittled down to two including Daenerys Targaryen and Stannis Baratheon. But Stannis and his weary army were defeated by Ramsay Bolton and his army outside the walls of Winterfell, leaving only Daenerys to stake her claim to Westeros.

According to latest reports, there will be a new contender for the iron throne and it is no other than Euron Greyjoy, to be played by Danish actor Pilou Asbaek.

Euron Greyjoy is the brother of Balon and Aeron and uncle to Theon and Yara. Tyrion Lannister once mentioned him during Season 1 of “Game of Thrones” when he met and told Theon that his uncle was responsible for burning the Lannister fleet at Lannisport during the Greyjoy Rebellion.

The family storyline of the Greyjoy is one of the big omissions and largest deviations made by “Game of Thrones” from the fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin. Reports have it that Season 6 of the TV series, which will premiere on HBO in April intends to remedy the loophole with the introduction of Euron Greyjoy.

According to movie fans and critics of “Game of Thrones,” Euron Greyjoy could become a replacement for Stannis Baratheon as the new ardent pursuer of the iron throne and he could prove to be a rather despicable antagonist, worst than Stannis.

Game of Thrones season 5

Euron Greyjoy is also known as the Crow’s Eye because of the eyepatch he wears over his left eye. Euron is a cunning military leader who alienated himself from the Greyjoy family after raping his brother’s mistress and commandeered a pirate ship by ripping out the tongues of all the crew members and rendering them all mute.

Reports have it that when he returns to the Iron Islands, he will be claiming himself as King of the Isles and the North.

Critics describe Euron Greyjoy as possibly the most callous, morally corrupt, and hedonistic character in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” mythology.
