‘Game of Thrones’ Season 6 to See Queen Margaery Sharing More Scenes with Another Character!

Natalie Dormer, the actress who plays Queen Margaery in the popular HBO TV series “Game of Thrones,” reveals in a recent interview that she will have a new sparring partner in the Season 6 of the show due to premiere in April next year.

What the actress meant when she said sparring partner is a “Game of Thrones” character whom she will be sharing more of her scenes with in the upcoming season, notes the Australia Network News.

It can be recalled that during Season 5 of “Game of Thrones,” it was Cersei, played by Lena Headey, who was Queen Margaery’s sparring partner. In fact, both characters were imprisoned by the High Septon for their immoral acts.

Queen Margaery was jailed because she lied for her brother and denied the fact that she knew his sexual preference all along. Queen Regent Cersei, on the other hand, was imprisoned by the High Septon for incest, having committed sexual acts not only with her brother but also with her cousin.

Unlikely pairings

During the Season 5 finale, Cersei was released by the High Septon and she made the controversial walk of shame all the way back to the Keep.

Dormer confirmed that her character will remain in jail when Season 6 begins. Interestingly, she will also have another character whom she will share most of her scenes with. However, she refuses to divulge who it is going to be.

She said that the beauty of “Game of Thrones” is it always makes use of unlikely pairings from one season to the next. She adds that characters get thrown with a new sparring partner from season to season, notes Time.

Some fans of “Game of Thrones” are hoping that Queen Margaery will find true love in the literal sense because her previous relationships always end up in tragedy or a glaring mismatch.

It can be recalled that her first relationship was with Renly Baratheon, whose sexual preference is also the same as that of his brother Loras. Then he had the tragic short marriage with King Joffrey Baratheon before tying the knot with an obvious mismatch in King Tommen Baratheon.

Brave writing

Dormer also defended the show’s creators for coming out with Cersei’s controversial walk of shame in Season 5, which caused a massive furor online prompting critics to question the treatment of women in “Game of Thrones.”

The actress said that whatever fans think of the show, it is obvious that they admire how daring the writing is.

She says that it is brave and bold writing whether fans agree or disagree with the choices made by the creators. She adds that “Game of Thrones” is not like other TV series that plays it safe and does not challenge its audience.

Dormer said that audiences are more sophisticated than Hollywood gives them credit for. She adds that it is one thing that fans should give credit to “Game of Thrones” showrunners because they understand that their audience is sophisticated and can process contradictions and controversy.

The actress said audiences can continue to expect audacious choices from creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for Season 6 of “Game of Thrones,” though she keeps herself out of the loop on purpose because she finds it always fun to gossip and speculate in the makeup trailer.

When HBO released a poster and then a short teaser trailer of the popular TV series “Game of Thrones” for its upcoming Season 6, the network only alluded that it would come out in April.
