At least three previously dead characters in the popular TV series “Game of Thrones” on HBO will return to Season 6 as the actors, who played the roles in the past seasons were all spotted filming on the sets.
One thing is sure though, they will not be coming back from the dead as white walkers, which is one of the two main fantasy elements of “Game of Thrones,” with the other being the dragons.
The first to have been recently spotted filming in the Spain set is Sean Bean, who every fan of “Game of Thrones” knows as Ned Stark. The actor was caught on amateur camera by an obsessed “Game of Thrones” British fan filming a scene outside the Castillo de Zafra in Campillo on a battle scene, details The Week.
There have been previous reports that 13-year-old English actor Sebastian Croft was cast as a young version of Ned Stark in a flashback.
It is likely that Ned Stark doing a battle scene is Spain is also a flashback and may have something to do with the story about the roots of Jon Snow and his mother, who according to speculations may actually be a Targaryen.
During the recent premiere of “The Martian,” Sean Bean revealed that he was not making a return on “Game of Thrones” because his character already got his head chopped off right in the first season. But the actor was not entirely convincing and fans of the series have already learned not to trust what is being fed to them by the cast and crew of “Game of Thrones.”
Khal Drogo is back too
The second previously dead character who will make a return on Season 6 is Khal Drogo, played by actor Jason Momoa.
The actor was spotted filming with his stunning co-star Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, in Spain a few weeks ago before the two stars were spotted again at the Paris Fashion Week, cites the Express of UK.
Khal Drogo’s character not only looks alive, but he seems to be ready for action as he takes to his horse in full Dothraki costume and stride across the barren Almerian desert.
Just like the case of Ned Stark, it is likely that the return of Khal Drogo is another form of flashback as the Dothrakis return to the fold of Daenerys shown during the Season 5 finale.
It can be recalled that at the climax of the Season 5 finale, Daenerys is surrounded at the fighting pits by a militant group called the Sons of the Harpy. Sensing its mother’s need, the Queen’s previously missing dragon, Drogon, appears and burns the threat to a crisp. Daenerys then climbs on his back, and the two fly off together. Drogon is wounded, however, and cannot fly Daenerys back to Meereen. In the final episode of the season, she leaves her dragon to find food and is surrounded by a band of Dothraki bloodrunners.
Tyrion’s girl is back too
And the third character who shall be reuniting from the dead is Shae, the traitorous lover of Tyrion Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage.
Shae, played by German actress Sibel Kekili, was photographed with Conleth Hill, who plays Lord Varys, and writer David Benioff in the Spanish town of Peniscola, where scenes set in Mereen are also being filmed.
That surely had fans speculating again. Given the location, it could not be a form of a flashback since all of the previous scenes where Shae was with Lord Varys were in Westeros and not anywhere else. So if she’s in Mereen with Lord Varys, she might have survived the strangling of Tyrion. Or it is also possible that she has a twin sister of some sort. But then all these are mere speculations at this time.
During the Season 5 finale, the five remaining Stark siblings – Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, Bran Stark, and Rickon Stark – are all separated from one another and have their respective ordeals to deal with.
