The fifth episode of the HBO hit series “Game of Thrones” Season 6 that aired last week saw Brandon Stark and Meera barely getting away from the rampaging white walkers.
The children of the forest and Hodor even had to sacrifice themselves just to save Bran, who became one with the Three-Eyed Raven, and now holds the key to stopping the supernatural holocaust.
Bran and Meera were seen escaping into the snow at the close of the episode as Hodor holds the door stopping the white walkers from coming through.
While the synopsis of the upcoming sixth episode of “Game of Thrones” entitled “Blood of My Blood” mentioned a returning character, speculations are rife that it could be Benjen Stark, Bran’s uncle, who will be returning to rescue him and Meera and take them to safety.
Also in the upcoming sixth episode of “Game of Thrones” Season 6, reports are rife that Ian McShane is set to guest star whose character will be a former warrior who has renounced violence and now leads the peace cult, notes the Independent of UK.
He said that he has nursed a much-loved character of “Game of Thrones” back to life but he does not want to say whether it is going to be a he or a she. McShane said that the character is someone whom everyone thinks is dead but he is not dead. The bet is on Benjen Stark.
Some others are saying that it could be Sandor Clegane or The Hound that McShane is referring to. The character was left for dead by Arya Stark and Brienne of Tarth during their one-on-one sword battle in Season 4.
The extent of Bran’s powers
If any, the fifth episode of “Game of Thrones” Season 6 entitled “The Door” showed the extent of Bran Stark’s true powers for the first time.
He awakened as the green seer in the middle of a terrible tragedy, details iDigital Times.
It seems clear that Bran can actually influence the past although he can’t change the present. However, he can always work things out in the past to determine what happens in the present. Case in point is that of Hodor whose name was derived from the present and was taken by him in the past.
Bran seems to be able to make himself felt or heard in the past through time. There has to be some sort of whispers and voices in the past to see Bran’s possible influence. It is also possible that there are areas where Bran’s powers can be more felt than in other areas.
All these remain as speculations for the deep-thinking fans and viewers of “Game of Thrones” now that they have been stripped of a source material for their spoilers since “The Winds of Winter,” the sixth book from the fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire” by critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin, has yet to be released.
Bran causing the major things in the past
Over the past week, a lot of theories have made the rounds online regarding the endless possibilities of Bran’s powers including the theory that his whisperings made the Mad King Aerys Targaryen actually mad.
In addition, there are also rumors and speculations that it was also Bran who told Rhaegar to abduct Lyanna Stark, keep her in the Tower of Joy, and beget Jon Snow.
There are also those who are claiming that it was also Bran who caused the disappearance of his uncle Benjen Stark, and so it is possible that he will also be the one to unmake it in the upcoming episode 6 and save them from the white walkers.
And finally, there are also speculations that it was Bran who deceived Melisandre to believe that Stannis Baratheon will become the next king of the Iron Throne. Most of these rumors are a combination of theories of book readers and what they have seen thus far in Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” so these are basically speculations.
Reports have it that two more old characters will be returning in episodes 6 and 7 of “Game of Thrones.”
