Idina Menzel says her singing career and life have dramatically changed since becoming the voice actor for Queen Elsa in “Frozen” late in 2013. Considering that “Frozen” eventually went on to become the most successful animated film in history, where Idina also happened to sing the huge hit “Let It Go,” it was no longer surprising to see her star shine brighter as a singer since then.
Idina has turned the song “Let It Go” into a global phenomenon that practically all young female kids, even the males too, and up to the teens and young adults, already know its lyrics by heart.
The 44-year-old Idina is already a very good singer even before “Let It Go” as attested by her Tony Award for originating the role of Elphaba in “Wicked” on Broadway. But her popularity and commercial success came only after her voice acting role as the Snow Queen in “Frozen,” details the Birmingham Mail.
According to Idina, “Frozen” has dramatically changed her music career and life. She said that it was wonderful to have a song that’s heightened her profile and enabled people to get to know her better and also gave her plenty of opportunities.
A worldwide anthem
She said that she was actually surprised that “Let It Go” has become such an anthem all over the world, particularly among kids. Idina recalls that she knew right from the start that it was a beautiful song when it was first sent to her to study, but she does not have any idea that it will eventually become a worldwide phenomenon that it has become now.
Idina says that the song actually speaks to young people and also to her as a woman and it serves as a reminder to herself about the things that are most important to her and not about the things that make people powerful.
She further explained that the things that set an individual apart are the things that also make the person extraordinary. The singer said that as a strong and fierce woman herself, she also grapples with the thought of being afraid to be threatened or disliked by others.
Concert tour
Before “Let It Go,” Idina is known to have her own renditions of popular rock songs like “Creep” and “Roxanne.” She has also sung the song “Defying Gravity” in the iconic musical TV series “Glee.”
Following her surge to popularity with “Let It Go,” Idina Menzel has been signed for a 40-date world tour including stops in Korea, Japan, the US, and Birmingham in the UK before she will go back to the studio to start working on “Frozen 2” which will be released to worldwide theaters sometime in 2018.
