Ever since a sequel has been confirmed for Disney’s hit animated film “Frozen,” speculations about the plot of the next film have continuously made the rounds on the internet.
Walt Disney Studios has confirmed that Jenifer Lee and Chris Buck will be returning to direct the upcoming sequel. Both directors have expressed their confidence and excitement towards the return of sisters Anna and Elsa in the big screen. Peter Del Vecho is also returning to produce the follow-up to the successful film.
Last month, in an interview with MTV, Buck shared that the overall theme and idea for the sequel had already been formalized, but the producers are still hard at work to craft the whole plot because they want the sequel to give a more meaningful message to its audience.
According to the directors, they want “Frozen 2” to bear a more significant story by tackling social issues that today’s generation can definitely benefit from. Buck adds that since the leads in the animated film are both young girls, it has the power to wrestle issues related to those being experienced by young girls and boys and even men and women in the present time.
Although the entertainment factor should still be heavily noted, it is no doubt that the Disney film’s message can have a fair deal of impact in the minds of the young ones.
Since the first movie was released in 2013, the characters of Elsa and Anna have been a staple part of kids’ lives, young girls’ most especially, that instead of just being used for entertaining them, they can also be used as a vessel to educate young minds.
Most of the cast from the first movie had signed up to reprise their roles in the sequel with Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell taking the lead in voicing main characters, Elsa, and Anna, respectively. Josh Gad will once again voice everyone’s favorite snowman Olaf and Jonathan Groff will voice Kristoff.
Meanwhile, speculations about what the upcoming Disney film is all about have been circling the internet and while the story will definitely revolve around the sisters of Arendale, reports suggest that the film might focus on Elsa more than Anna.
A proof of this was when Eva Bella, who voiced the younger Elsa, was confirmed to be back for the sequel. The child actress posted a photo on her Instagram account showing her entering the recording studio for the “Frozen” sequel.
This means that there will be a flashback of Elsa’s childhood in the upcoming film. Moviepilot suggests that the flashback will have to focus on narrating Elsa’s story, as a child, and how she dealt with her powers. During the song “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?” it was shown briefly how Elsa had a hard time controlling her magic. Regarding Anna’s younger character, no detail has been made so far.
As per Venture Capital Post, the storyline of “Frozen 2” could shed some light on how Queen Elsa acquired her powers, a fact that was never really explained in the first film. MNR Daily adds that aside from venturing on the story behind Queen Elsa’s powers, the film might also explore why Anna doesn’t have magical abilities, unlike her sister. If this is true, then fans have really something to watch out for.
Movie News Guide reports that the Queen of Arendale might find a love interest this time as Anna has already found hers in Kristoff. As for Olaf, reports say that the snowman may find himself lucky in the romance department as well.
According to reports, “Frozen 2” will feature a different side of Elsa. The Ice Queen will ponder on her need to open up and have some fun again after a long time when she kept herself hidden because of her powers.
