“Frozen” is the most successful animated movie of all time. As such, the pressure is on co-writers and co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee to ensure that when its sequel, “Frozen 2,” comes out, it would be equal if not better than the original film.
It can be recalled that in “Frozen,” it was Princess Anna who has had a love life with Kristoff. While her initial crush was Prince Hans, it turned out later that the prince was scheming to take over Arendelle from sisters Queen Elsa and Princess Anna.
Although there have been previous reports saying that Queen Elsa is likely to have a partner in “Frozen 2,” such has become a contentious issue online. Some quarters are pushing that Elsa will have a female partner, while some are pushing that she gets her Prince Charming.
One thing is clear from the latest rumors, though. Queen Elsa shall be meeting someone who will sweep her off her feet, notes the Latin Post.
Although Disney and its cast of characters appreciate the suggestion and online petition pushing for a girlfriend for Queen Elsa, the entertainment conglomerate is known for its traditional values so it is unlikely to consider making the ruler of Arendelle a lesbian.
But it will not just be Queen Elsa who will find her true love in “Frozen 2” but also her snowman creation Olaf.
Confirmed to return
As it is, the three voice actors for the three main characters of “Frozen” have already been confirmed for “Frozen 2” and they are Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, and Josh Gad, who voices Elsa, Anna, and Olaf, respectively.
It is likely that other characters from “Frozen” shall make their return on the sequel including Kristoff and Sven, and some of the familiar characters including the people of Arendelle and the trolls.
In addition, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee shall also be returning to do what they have successfully done in “Frozen.”
While they have refused to spill details of a possible plotline for “Frozen 2,” what seems confirmed is that the sequel shall have a great story just like its predecessor film.
A push forward on its release date
There are reports saying that because of the recent success of “Moana,” Disney has reportedly decided to push forward with “Frozen 2” in 2017 instead of the rumored 2018 release date.
However, these remain as speculations pending the official confirmation from Disney so it should be taken with a fine grain of salt.
Some fans of the franchise also do not believe a 2017 release date for “Frozen 2” because Disney would take all the time it needs to come up with a great sequel to the most successful animated movie of all time, details Game & Guide.
There are speculations saying that the plot for “Frozen 2” will feature the reunion between the King of Arendelle and his two daughters. It said that the long lost King is alive after all these years.
However, some reports claim that the King will not be recognized by the guards at first and he will be forced to leave the kingdom without meeting his daughters. But these remain as speculations so it is best to take the information with a bit of hesitation.
“Frozen” marked its three years on November 27 from the time it was released to theaters. It has also been over three years since fans, both young and old, have been waiting for its sequel.
Disney Pictures confirmed early last year that “Frozen 2” is a go and the internet has been regularly abuzz with rumors and speculations about its plotline, the cast of characters, among other things.
Thus far, it has already been confirmed that both co-writers and co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee will be back for “Frozen 2” and that most of the key characters in “Frozen” shall return for the sequel as well.
