‘Frozen 2’ to Inject More Fun in the Personality of Queen Elsa, Reveals Co-Director Chris Buck

Come November 27, “Frozen,” the most successful animated movie of all time, will mark its three years from the time it was released to theaters. It has also been nearly three years since fans, both young and old, have been waiting for its sequel.

Disney Pictures confirmed early last year that “Frozen 2” is a go and the internet has been regularly abuzz with rumors and speculations about its plotline, cast of characters, among other things.

Thus far, it has already been confirmed that both co-writers and co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee will be back for “Frozen 2” and that most of the key characters in “Frozen” shall return for the sequel.

Given the reputation of the first movie, the pressure will be on Buck and Lee to really deliver something great for “Frozen 2” and so far, they seemed to have found the perfect story for the sequel, though they refused to divulge details about it.

But in a recent interview with Chris Buck, he said that the production team is already working on the sequel. He added that Jen and he are getting back in the room and they have some cool ideas coming up, details Game & Guide.

Buck also said that what he can say at the moment is that Queen Elsa shall have more personality in “Frozen 2” which was not too pronounced during the first movie. But he did say that they were able to partially do so during the short film “Frozen Fever” shown in March last year and it really looked good injecting more fun on the personality of Queen Elsa.

He said that they will capitalize on the success of what they did to Queen Elsa in “Frozen Fever” and do the same to her personality on “Frozen 2.”

It can be recalled that in “Frozen,” Elsa was literally and figuratively cold because she wanted to run as far away as possible from Arendelle fearful that she may cause further destruction and harm not only to her kingdom but also to her sister Princess Anna.

A love interest for Olaf

There were previous speculations saying that Queen Elsa would have her romantic interest in “Frozen 2” which has become the subject of contentious arguments online.

One of the more interesting rumored love angles for Elsa is that Olaf would be it since the amiable snowman is her creation in the first place.

The notion then was that Olaf would be like the frog in the story of “The Princess and the Frog” where the snowman used to be a prince and that a kiss from the princess or Queen Elsa for that matter, would turn the frog into a handsome prince.

However, those who are familiar with “Frozen,” know that Olaf was really made from snow so there was no way he could be a handsome prince once.

As of late, the rumors are now saying that Olaf would indeed have a love interest in “Frozen 2” but it is not going to be with Elsa or any human for that matter, but possibly with another snow creation from Elsa, notes the Parent Herald.

“Frozen 2” is rumored to hit the theaters in 2018 or five years from the time that “Frozen” came out in November 2013.

Elsa’s love life in focus

Another interesting and viral topic online is the possible romance of Queen Elsa of Arendelle. It can be recalled that in “Frozen,” only Princess Anna had a love life in the person of Kristoff. Initially, she wanted Prince Hans but as it turned out, the prince was scheming to get hold of Arendelle.

There have been petitions over the last couple of months that Disney should consider giving Queen Elsa a girlfriend. Although it may sound politically correct at this time, Disney has always been steadfast in terms of moral values to its movies so it is unlikely to entertain such notion or petition.

Co-directors and co-writers Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee have yet to make an official statement regarding the plotline or character development for “Frozen 2” so everything remains as speculations at this point in time.
