There are very few people that will say that the latest Disney film, Frozen, was not one of the most popular animated movies of all-time. The movie cruised to the number one spot on the weekend that it launched and stayed there for weeks a children from all over the country went to see it with their parents more than one time. On the international scale, the movie brought in more than $1.2 billion at the box office making it the most successful Disney movie of all time.
With such a great success story for those that wrote, directed, produced and acted in the movie, it would be hard to think that the company would not bring out a sequel. Frozen 2 would be just as successful in terms of popularity and the money that it would bring in for Disney. According to a few reports from the last month or more, the movie was in the works and Disney was getting the cast and crew together.
The initial reports came from Idina Menzel, during various interviews about her singing the “Let it Go” song from the movie. The song won an Oscar for the Best Original Song and has been sung by millions of young girls ever since they saw the movie last year. Just like with anything else, when good news comes, there is always a little bad news. That bad news is about the rumored sequel.
The rumored sequel is only based on what Menzel has said in random interviews over the last few months, but according to a new report, she clarifies her comments. Menzel stated that she “spoke out of turn” when she mentioned the possibility of there being a sequel to the very popular movie. She said that because the first one was so successful, there was going to be a second one. Right now, there is a stage show in the works, but Disney will not comment on a sequel to Frozen.
Disney based the animated success on a fairy tale based on a book by Hand Christian called “The Snow Queen” and has been a best seller since it was released in 2013. Frozen fever is going to be a short film that children might want to see just to get a Frozen fix. It will be in theaters by March 13th in the United States and April 3rd in the United Kingdom. The short film extends the original movie with plenty of surprises for all.
