Whenever the sequel to a major, well-known film is coming out, it tends to be surrounded by all sorts of rumors and speculation, sometimes bordering on the more ridiculous. We’ve seen a good deal of things said about “Frozen 2” over the months before the film was even officially confirmed, and now that we know that it’s in the works, fans have gone even crazier with their theories.
One rumor that has been repeated several times already is the suggestion that Elsa could have a girlfriend in the new movie, adding a lesbian sub-plot to the story. It started out as a minor rumor, but lately we’ve seen it repeated several times, to the point where some have brought the question up to star Idina Menzel.
The actress, however, claims to have no knowledge of such a story taking place in the new film, although she apparently doesn’t have much information about the plot as a whole. She doesn’t have the script yet, so it seems like her knowledge is as good as that of fans, at least if she’s telling the truth of course.
Menzel did add that she liked the idea and found it an interesting suggestion, and many people have expressed similarly positive remarks about the rumors. Disney have a very powerful platform to send messages to the young generation of today, and if they used it to spread awareness about the LGBT cause, this could be a positive move for them.
Other rumors about “Frozen 2” talk about Olaf and his potential love story. It looks like Disney are going to get many characters involved in some sort of romantic situation, and this could be a major theme in the new film. Hopefully it won’t take away from the other elements that made the original “Frozen” so good in the first place, however.
This is an important question that some fans have been asking. How much are Disney going to change for the sequel, and are they going to branch things off in a new direction? “Frozen” was one of the most successful works of the studio, and there is a lot of attention on the production of the sequel right now.
At the same time, things have changed a little since the original film. Not only is the market different now, but fans of the first “Frozen” have grown up already and have slightly different interests and tastes today. If Disney want to make sure that the new film will be just as attractive to their original fans as their potential new ones, they’re going to have to put some extra thought into the story.
We definitely trust that the studio know how to pull this off though, and we wouldn’t be surprised if this is actually one of their main points of attention in producing the film. We’ve seen Disney do some amazing things with their sequels in the past, and it’s usually quite the special event when they decide to continue a film.
It must not have been a light decision for the studio, and this means that they must have already put a lot of thought into how they’re going to pull it off. The setting and general themes of “Frozen 2” might be a bit different from the original, but at the same time we trust that Disney are going to craft a beautiful film that satisfies everyone waiting for it.
