Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios have made some major changes this week on the release dates of its two upcoming animated movies – “The Incredibles 2” and “Toy Story 4” – but it seems that “Frozen 2” is still good to go in its 2018 playdate on global theaters.
However, up until this time, Disney has not announced or mentioned a specific release date for “Frozen 2,” unlike “The Incredibles 2” which now has a confirmed playdate of June 15, 2018 and “Toy Story 4” on June 21, 2019.
Thus, fans were left mostly with speculations as far as updates to “Frozen 2” are concerned. However, it seems that actress Kristen Bell may have hinted something positive for the sequel to the most successful animated film of all time.
Done voice recording for the Christmas special
In a recent interview, Bell said that they have completed recording for the “Olaf Christmas Special” which is set to be released on TV in December next year.
She also said that they would start voice recording sessions in March. Initially, fans and critics thought that the actress was referring to voice recording work for “Olaf Christmas Special” when Bell said that it is going to start in March next year.
Apparently, she meant that it is for “Frozen 2” since they have already finished recording work on “Olaf Christmas Special” even this early.
As such, it comes without saying that pre-production work for “Frozen 2” may already be in its final stages and that production work would likely begin soon, notes Game & Guide.
Bell also said that she had fun doing it with the other cast members including Josh Gad, lending his voice to Olaf, and Idina Menzel, lending her voice again to Queen Elsa, cites the Morning Ledger.
During the same interview, Bell also disclosed that the script for “Frozen 2” is still undergoing some polishing. She did not reveal any plotline at all. What seems confirmed for now are the fact that all the key characters will be back for “Frozen 2” so expect the actors to reprise their roles or voices in the sequel.
Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee shall also be back to direct “Frozen 2” and they seem to be part of those who will be writing the script or rewriting the script as the case may be.
Rumors about the film’s official soundtrack
After the wild rumors on the possible plotline for the sequel to the most successful animated movie of all time, “Frozen,” speculations have shifted on the official soundtrack of the upcoming “Frozen 2.”
According to the latest rumors, Idina Menzel, who lends her voice to Queen Elsa in “Frozen,” has been replaced by Disney as the singer for the official soundtrack of “Frozen 2” and that the choice has boiled down to Rihanna or Taylor Swift.
While it may sound as big news to some who are not in the know, but Disney Pictures would surely not risk figuratively letting go of Idina Menzel after she sang the legacy song of “Frozen” entitled “Let It Go” when the movie was released in November 2013. The song even went on to rule the charts at some point and became the anthem of fans, both young and old, who have watched “Frozen” in theaters.
Since Idina Menzel would continue to lend her voice to Queen Elsa in the upcoming “Frozen 2,” it would be foolish for the Disney entertainment conglomerate to bring in an A-lister music artist to sing a song for the character when both Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell, who lends her voice to Princess Anna, can very well hold their own in singing for the film.
It is likely that the absurd rumors are a project of sensationalism meant to further hype the film which is due to hit cinemas in 2018.
