Josh Gad, the actor who voiced the lovable snow character Olaf in “Frozen” is excited to get wind or reports that his character would have a love life in the sequel.
In a recent interview, Gad said that he is just excited for his character having a love interest in the upcoming “Frozen 2.” He also expressed his complete faith on the creative team of the movie, reports the Parent Herald.
Some fans and critics say that seeing Olaf having a love interest would sure heighten the cuteness factor of “Frozen 2.”
The reports are consistent with previous speculations that Queen Elsa, who created Olaf, would actually be the romantic partner of the jolly snow character.
It is also attuned to earlier reports that “Frozen 2” would also feature a backstory on Olaf, which hints of the possibility that he may eventually become human in the end to make the perfect match with Queen Elsa.
With Princess Anna, already having her love interest in Kristoff, the sequel could be the turn of Queen Elsa to get a shot at love.
However, there are also rumors saying that Prince Hans will return in the sequel but as a reformed person already. Assuming that it is accurate, it is possible that Prince Hans would also attempt to woo Queen Elsa.
All these romantic angles on “Frozen 2” are mere speculations and until co-directors and co-writers Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee issue an official statement to either confirm or deny any or all of these rumors, everything should be taken with a pinch of salt.
An LBGT theme?
There were also reports that Queen Elsa might be paired with another female character because it will turn out that she is gay, a rumor which Disney would unlikely to touch on given its sensitive nature, despite the fact that same-sex marriage has already been made legal by the US Supreme Court just recently.
The rumors about “Frozen 2” possibly taking an LBGT theme began when Jennifer Lee was quoted as saying that the sequel will focus on societal issues that young people are currently dealing with. But Lee did not mention that it will have something to do with LBGT rights, notes the Christian Post.
There are also speculations that “Frozen 2” will introduce a gay character, but it seems that such rumor including Queen Elsa being gay does not have a good leg to stand on.
Elsa’s transformation
“Frozen” has always been the story of sisters Queen Elsa and Princess Anna of Arrendelle. While Princess Anna may be the bubbly, adventurous, and comical sister, Queen Elsa appears to be the more straight-forward, stern, and serious between the two.
However, if latest reports are to be believed about “Frozen 2,” Queen Elsa shall apparently come out of her shell and show her lighter and funnier side.
The reports were actually based on the recent statement made by co-director Chris Buck who said that fans should expect a different side of Elsa in the sequel. Accordingly, the Queen shall be a doting and fun sister that she showed a glimpse of during the short film “Frozen Fever” released in March this year.
In the first movie, Queen Elsa had to undergo a personal dramatic journey. Towards the end, she eventually felt that she can open up and have some fun in her life again, cites Buck.
Chris Buck added that he and co-director Jennifer Lee had fun with Queen Elsa’s mini-transformation in “Frozen Fever” and fans should expect more of such personality in “Frozen 2.”
Based on most reports, “Frozen 2” will feature the backstory of Elsa and Anna. It will touch on how the young Princess Elsa was able to obtain her powers and how her parents became aware of it, which was not explained in “Frozen.”
