‘Frozen 2’ Needs to Have a Great Message Like its Predecessor to Endear Itself to Fans!

While the sequel to the most successful animated film in history is about three years away from hitting theaters, assuming reports of a 2018 playdate is right on the money, one would think that “Frozen 2” will be showing in cinemas in a few months time given all the buzz it has been creating on the internet.

No doubt, pressure is on the movie’s two writers and directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee to come out with something that would either match or surpass the massive box-office success of “Frozen” when it was shown in November 2013.

In a recent interview, Chris Buck said that he and Jennifer already have an idea on how to end the movie and the main issue that they are brainstorming about is how they end it. But he did not disclose anything with regards to the plot of the movie, leaving fans with their tons of speculations on the details, including possible storylines and new characters for the “Frozen 2.”

According to iDigital Times, more than a great story, “Frozen 2” needs to have a great message just like its predecessor to endear itself to its viewers, particularly among kids.

While it is almost sure that the kids who watched the first movie back in 2013, many of whom will be in their teens by the time “Frozen 2” is shown on theaters, will watch the sequel the same way that many adults would likely do so, the sequel will have to deal most certainly with a new batch of young tots. Some of those kids were not even born yet when the first movie was shown or that most of them were still infants then.

Gambling on sequels

It is imperative for Disney, or for Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee for that matter, to really integrate a great message into “Frozen 2” to endear itself to its viewers both young and old, the same way that “Frozen” did which ultimately made it the most successful animated film in history.

Disney is actually making a gamble on “Frozen 2” as none from its successful animated films had equally successful sequels. But it seems that the film company is evolving and is now trying to test the waters with a series of upcoming animated film projects. In addition to “Frozen 2,” Disney and Pixar are now working on “Finding Dory,” the sequel to “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles 2,” and “Big Hero 7.”

That’s a lot of risks that the entertainment company is putting on its plate but it is buoyed by the idea that any one or all of those four movies would finally break the spell on its less-than-successful straight-to-DVD sequels.

Hollywood has become the era of sequels as of late and Disney would like to capitalize on it in the animation category. It has proven that the formula works with the movies of its subsidiary Marvel Studios, and it is likely to be proven again by another of its subsidiary Lucasfilm, with the upcoming “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” showing on December 18.

A different side of Elsa

Realty Today also reported that Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee hinted also a few months ago that Queen Elsa will have a different side in “Frozen 2.”

While the two writers and directors did not specify it directly, many are speculating that what they were hinting could be the romantic side of Elsa as she has been rumored to find a love interest in the sequel.

But Princess Anna shall also be in the limelight in “Frozen 2,” but since she already has a romantic partner in Kristoff, it is likely that the love life of Queen Elsa will be the one that would be highlighted in the sequel.

Reports have it that Queen Elsa will rightfully get her man on “Frozen 2” but everything is speculation at this point. First, there was a report that it could be Prince Hans who will be returning as a better person.
