“Frozen” has always been the story of sisters Queen Elsa and Princess Anna of Arrendelle. While Princess Anna may be the bubbly, adventurous, and funny sister, Queen Elsa appears to be the more straight-forward, laid-back, and serious between the two.
However, if latest reports are to be believed about “Frozen 2,” Queen Elsa shall apparently come out of her shell and show her lighter and funnier side.
The reports were actually based on the recent statement made by co-director Chris Buck in an interview when he said that fans should expect a different side of Elsa in the sequel. Accordingly, the Queen shall be a doting and fun sister that she showed a glimpse of during the short film “Frozen Fever” released in March this year, details the Christian Today.
In the first movie, Queen Elsa had to undergo a personal dramatic journey. Towards the end, she eventually felt that she can open up and have some fun in her life again, cites Buck.
Chris Buck added that he and co-director Jennifer Lee had fun with Queen Elsa’s mini-transformation in “Frozen Fever” and fans should expect more of such outgoing personality in “Frozen 2.”
Backstory for Elsa and Anna
Based on most reports, “Frozen 2” will feature the backstory of Elsa and Anna. It will touch on how the young Princess Elsa was able to obtain her powers and how her parents became aware of it, which was not explained in “Frozen.”
However, it can be recalled that in the first film, the King of Arrendelle told the leader of the trolls that his daughter Elsa was born with her ice powers and was not cursed by it.
It seems that the backstory report is on target since the actress who voiced the young Elsa in “Frozen” has been confirmed to return to “Frozen 2,” which is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide sometime in 2018, notes the Latinos Post.
In addition to teasing about the backstory and transformation of Queen Elsa in “Frozen 2,” Chris Buck also assured fans of the franchise that the ending of the movie will really be terrific.
On the rumors about Princess Anna having her own powers, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, in another interview, said that Anna’s superpower, as shown in the first movie, is love. They alluded that reports on the younger sibling’s superpower ability may not be accurate after all. They added that Anna saves the day in “Frozen” with love.
Main plotline and the message
Buck also added that amid the pressure of coming up with a very good sequel for “Frozen,” he said that they are more concern about the main plotline of the movie and the decent message that they want to impart to viewers. He said that if they fail to capitalize on giving a decent message on “Frozen 2,” then they will miss a great opportunity.
In a previous interview, Chris Buck said that he and Jennifer Lee already have an idea on how to end the movie and the main issue that they are brainstorming about is how they end it. But he did not disclose anything with regards to the plot of the movie, leaving fans with their tons of speculations on the details, including possible storylines and new characters for “Frozen 2.”
More than a great story, “Frozen 2” needs to have a great message just like its predecessor to endear itself to its viewers, particularly among kids.
While it is almost sure that the kids who watched the first movie back in 2013, many of whom will be in their teens by the time “Frozen 2” is shown on theaters, will watch the sequel. Many adults would likely watch it too, but the sequel will have to deal with a new batch of young tots among its viewers. Some of those kids were not even born yet when the first movie was shown or that most of them were still infants then.
