“Frozen 2” Finally Officially Confirmed by Idina Menzel

It’s been a long wait, but fans of the original “Frozen” finally got the news they’ve been waiting for – the sequel is definitely in the works! The news comes from none other than Idina Menzel, who plays the character of Elsa in the film. In a public statement, she confirmed that “Frozen 2” is being worked on alongside the musical spin-off which has been in the headlines recently.

According to the actress, she actually doesn’t know that much about the progress of the musical, and has been more focused on her work with the main sequel. She stated that she has just been “going along” with the flow, letting the studio decide where things are headed. She also couldn’t say much about her part in the movie, although she did appear quite excited about her involvement.

It should be noted that this isn’t the first time the actress has hinted at the sequel being in the works – a recent interview with IGN saw her talking on the topic, revealing that she believes Disney to be working on “Frozen 2” already.

It’s also interesting that Idina Menzel has apparently not actually performed anything for “Frozen 2” yet, and she herself is not certain what her involvement will be, and what she can expect from her part in the film. Considering the nature of the production, and the fact that Disney likely won’t need the actress’s work until a late point in the animation, it makes sense that they would keep her in the dark for longer, especially if they want to keep the movie a secret for as long as possible.

Disney themselves made a statement about “Frozen 2” as recently as September this year, claiming that the studio currently has no plans for a sequel. It’s strange that their claims directly contradict what Idina Menzel is saying now, but there are multiple possible explanations for that. One would be that Disney did not want to confirm the movie back in September, but have no problems with that anymore at this point. Alternatively, “Frozen 2” could be a relatively new production, and Disney may have only started work on it recently. This would make both statements valid, at least to some extent.

Frozen 2

In any case, no matter how far in its production “Frozen 2” could be, the film definitely isn’t coming out anytime soon, judging by Disney’s release trends in general. It’s likely that the studio will want to do something really special for the sequel to “Frozen”, given how popular the original became, and how much it was praised for its attention to detail. There is likely a long time to go before fans get to see the new film, but they should not be disappointed.
