Disney has already confirmed that the sequel to the most successful animated movie of all time “Frozen” shall most likely have a 2018 playdate.
While the entertainment conglomerate has yet to announce a specific release date for “Frozen 2,” the movie lineup made public by Disney in October last year clearly showed two mystery movies showing in 2018. One of those two mystery movies could actually be “Frozen 2.”
The 2018 release date shall also be well and good for “Frozen 2” as reports have it that a “Frozen” Broadway musical will start happening next year.
This means that once the “Frozen” stage play gets going on Broadway, it shall only heighten the hype and anticipation for “Frozen 2.”
It would be an additional promotional initiative for “Frozen 2” despite the fact that Disney Pictures shall practically leave no stones unturned in the promotion of the movie considering that it is targeting to equal if not surpass “Frozen” as the most successful animated movie of all time, box office-wise.
Great idea for the sequel
Although there have been plenty of speculations going on the internet regarding the possible plotlines for “Frozen 2,” co-writers and co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee have yet to disclose anything official.
What seems clear at this point is that John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studio, is happy with both “Frozen” and the short animated film “Frozen Fever” shown early last year so much so that he shall look forward to being back in the same world with practically the same characters, notes the Christian Examiner.
Lasseter also disclosed that Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee have already come up with a great idea for “Frozen 2” and they will be making an announcement about it once they have something concrete to bring to the table.
He also said that the story shall surely bring “Frozen 2” back to Arendelle where the main characters will have to deal with new issues.
Chris Buck confirmed in an interview last year that he and Jennifer are just getting back into the story room together and throwing ideas around. He said back then that they already have an overall idea, a concept which they both think as very strong.
He also said that the movie might have an unexpected ending. Buck also confirmed that “Frozen 2” will definitely have something to address the younger generation.
A long lost sister?
With hardly a confirmation about the plot details for “Frozen 2,” the internet is abuzz with rumors and speculations about the possible storyline to the sequel of the most successful animated movie of all time.
One thing that co-writers and co-directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee have mentioned upon the official greenlighting of “Frozen 2” by Disney, the movie shall impart a good message to children just like its predecessor movie did when it was released in November 2013.
They also promised to make the sequel better than the original since that is the way to go which is also one of the reasons why they are taking things slow to ensure that they can come up with a good story and another great film in “Frozen 2.”
Interestingly, other than those general statements of Buck and Lee, no specifics have been mentioned thus far so it is really surprising to find plenty of possible speculations about the movie’s plotline on the internet these days.
One of the more interesting speculations currently making the rumor mills has something to do with Rapunzel of the other Disney animated movie “Tangled.”
According to rumors, Rapunzel is reportedly the long lost sister of Queen Elsa and Princess Anna, which would make “Frozen 2” a crossover of sort between “Frozen” and “Tangled.”
The speculations went on to say that Elsa and Anna will be learning that they have another sister who also possesses her own superpowers. That sister is to be Rapunzel.
