The sequel and the “Frozen Fever”
It can be remembered that plans for the upcoming sequel of “Frozen” was announced during the Walt Disney Company’s annual shareholders meeting in March in San Francisco. At that time, Disney also revealed that the film’s original producer, Peter Del Vecho, will return for the sequel.
The announcement was made by John Lasseter, Walt Disney, and Pixar Animation Studios’ chief creative officer. Along with Lasseter were Bob Iger, the Disney chief, and Josh Gad, the actor who voiced Olaf in “Frozen.”
Fans around the world are excitedly waiting for the much-awaited revelation of the second “Frozen” movie. When the announcement came regarding the sequel, “Frozen” followers were not that surprised but still, they are delighted to hear the official Disney statement.
In addition to the upcoming sequel, “Frozen” fans also received a very nice surprise from the creators of the Disney film when they saw “Frozen Fever” in theaters also in March. According to the movie’s production, Marc Smith, the head story artist, was the one who gave the idea of Elsa having a cold. The head story artist’s concept became the basis for the whole storyline of the short film.
Both “Frozen” and the short film “Frozen Fever” received positive reviews and since the release of the 2013 film, the franchise expanded very rapidly. The website TheStreet.com even stated that “Frozen” is no longer an ordinary movie; it is already a global brand that became a basis for production of goods, creation of theme parks, and conception of sequels that could last into the next century.
No doubt, fans are still experiencing the “Frozen” phenomenon even after two years since its box-office launch. However, as of this writing, Disney is yet to release any official announcement regarding the release date and production details of “Frozen 2.”
