Just like every other animated movie, most of those that went to see it are wondering whether or not Disney is going to add another movie to the series. The “Let It Go” song one an Oscar and was ringing through the heads of every single person that saw the movie, even just once.
There is no reason in the world why Disney would not want to continue the success they are seeing from the Frozen movie. Frozen hit the theaters about 1 year ago and today is one of the highest grossing animated movies of all time. Worldwide, the movie brought in more than $1.274 billion according to online sources. On the global charts, it is the 5th highest grossing movies of all time, behind just one of the Marvel movies and four others.
Disney has not said one word about doing another movie, but it just seems like it would be the next logical step in the progression of success for a movie like this. When asked about the second installment of the movie, the answer was that the characters are “rich” and that there are plenty of “stories left to tell”. That could mean a lot of things, but most are guessing that it means the second one is just the right thing to do.
While the children of the world wait around to see if there will be a Frozen 2, there will be a little hint of Frozen when a short film is released next spring. According to sources, the short film is going to be called Frozen Fever and will be directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck. The short film will take place at Anna birthday and there could be a royal celebration involved. When talking to investors during an earnings call, Disney CEO made comments about the Frozen movie saying that it certainly has “franchise potential”.
Besides the fact that Frozen is going to see a sequel, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the movie. One source claims that there is a planned stage adaptation for one, with the possibility that there could be a video game in the works as well. The movie is very popular as you can tell, but Disney has not been confirming anything for the next movie in the series.
