Millions of people of all ages went to see the original Frozen movie and then even more rented the movie when it came out on DVD and Bluray recently. There is no doubt that the movie is one of the hottest animated movies of all time and now that there is more buzz about a sequel, the fans are excited to see what is in store for the movie series. Frozen 2 is an easy sequel for Disney and now it is just a matter of what direction the movie is going to go.
According to at least one source, the movie could have a darker side this time around. This is speculation based on the fact that the director could use the original Snow Queen story line. If you know the original Snow Queen story, then you know where the movie could end up. For those of you that do not know the Snow Queen story, it includes a nasty troll casting a spell and a mirror that distorts everything that is in front of it.
If that original story line is used, there is little you can do to make the second movie all warm and fuzzy. Because the mirror will show you the evil side of whoever is standing in front of it, you can imagine where the moral of the story is going to go based on the first movie. Disney does a great job of selling fairy tales to children all of the time, but that could change if the rumors are true.
According to one source, the Snow Queen store is one of the highest acclaimed fairy tales of all time and it has been published in many variations. The odds that your child is going to know the story are slim, but the parents could easily remember that story from their childhood. At this time, Disney has not said anything about the sequel, but one source reported that Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff will be coming back for the second time.
The darker story line centers on the mirror that shows the bad side of things, but in the end there are things that are good and the spell is broken. How Disney plans to get from the beginning to the end will decide how dark the movie really is. The first film in the Frozen series was a huge success and brought home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. If you cannot wait for the second movie to arrive, there will be a little teaser next year in a short film called “Frozen Fever”.
