Ford Mustang Adds Eco-Boost Engine And Sales Soar!

There are only a few car makers that come to mind when you think about American muscle cars. Ford and the Mustang are certainly on that list and it has been since the first one appeared on the showroom floor back in 1965. The Ford Mustang has been one of the most popular selling cars of the last fifty years and that is even with competition from companies like Chevy and the Camaro. Recent news has given a boost to Ford Mustang sales.

Last year, the 2015 model of the Ford Mustang was released and there was no surprise when the sales started to pour in. The sleek look just speaks muscle all over the place and now that the Ford Mustang comes with a Mother Earth and wallet friendly 2.3-liter Eco-Boost engine, the sales could never be better. According to one source, Ford Mustang sales are up 55 percent for the first five months of this year. Competition from Chevy and Dodge has seemed to be missing for that same time period.

According to online sources, Chevy has sold just 33,000 Camaros, while Dodge has only sold 30,000 Challengers during the same time period. Ford sold more than 55,000 Mustangs and that has given the company the sales lead for the first time since 2009. Any time you have a new model hit the showroom, sales jump, but according to Ford, that is not the case with the 2015 model. In some markets, the sales by Millennials make up more than 40 percent of the sales overall.

In Southern California, the hottest Mustang market in the country, sales are up more than 117 percent, according to reports. Fans of the Ford Mustang are happy to see an engine that is not going to eat away at their wallet, much like the 5.0-liter V8 that is typically packed under the hood. There is a trade off of course. The V8 is going to offer you about 120 more horsepower than the 2.3-liter, but if you are looking for a sports car that does not suck gas, the 2.3-liter is perfect.

Ford also knows that the age group buying the most Mustangs is also very keen about the pricing of the car and the company figured out a balance of power, economy friendly gas mileage and a price that has the car just flying off the showroom floors. There seems to be a trend in the auto market right now and Ford has the upper hand. Chevy is also reportedly going to release a four-cylinder engine that is turbocharged and that should also appeal to the younger buyer. Dodge is the last to jump on board, but rumors are suggesting a forced induction four cylinder there as well.
