There have been some rumors about the 2016 Ford Bronco lately, and while they have been getting stronger and stronger, there was no response from Ford about the situation. That is, until now – the company finally stepped forward, although it wasn’t for the reason many fans were expecting. They actually decided to deny the rumors about the new Bronco, stating that the project is not on the table right now.
This was understandably disappointing to all fans who have been patiently waiting for Ford to come out and confirm the rumors. Indeed, many of the “reports” about the 2016 Bronco seemed quite legitimate, so it’s easy to see why some got mislead in the whole ordeal. Many news sites were reporting on the rumors as well, which further added to their apparent legitimacy.
With all this in mind, it’s probably for the best that Ford decided to speak up, because the situation could’ve gotten a lot worse. If they had waited a little longer before making the announcement, this would likely have been even more disappointing to their fans.
What was the 2016 Bronco going to feature in terms of specifications, according to the rumors? It was said to have a 5.0 liter engine capable of outputting 420 horsepower, as well as two other variants with a 4.9 liter Powestroke diesel engine, and a 5.8 liter 8-cylinder engine, outputting 330 and 662 horsepower respectively. Those claims were partly what attracted so much attention to the rumors about the new Bronco, as they seemed like a good deal for buyers looking for a lot of diversity and a good selection of options.
There was also going to be a choice between a manual and automatic transmission, according to the rumors, both with six speeds, although it wasn’t really clear from most rumors how those were going to be offered for the different engines.
Why are we repeating all those rumors? Because after all this, some dedicated Ford fans who love the Bronco still refuse to believe that the 2016 edition of the truck is not coming, and are instead choosing to believe that Ford are just trying to pull wool over their eyes, preparing them for a surprising announcement.
This is probably just wishful thinking in the end though, as the company could have easily stayed quiet and let the rumors keep flowing. It was basically free advertisement for them at the time, in case they were really preparing a new Bronco. Ford are generally not a company to mess around with confusing statements like that, so most likely what they said about the Bronco is true and we won’t be seeing a new entry into that line anytime soon.
