When the first trailer for “Final Fantasy XV” was shown, it wasn’t met with the total positivity that was expected – some fans were unhappy that they didn’t get to understand what was going on in the trailer, as it was originally released without an English translation a few months ago. And sure, fans could still see the actual trailer and get an idea about what it represents, but those who wanted the full picture were forced to wait for an English translation. And now, the wait is over – Square Enix have finally released the English version of the game’s trailer!
Apart from the English voiceovers, nothing else has been altered for the trailer’s re-release, so fans shouldn’t expect to learn anything new about the upcoming game from it. The trailer still shows the game’s heroes going through their journey, dealing with strange creatures and moving through the game’s world.
Recently, there have been some upsetting news about the game’s development – it was reported that Tetsuya Nomura, who was heading the game’s production, has shifted his focus to another title, “Kingdom Hearts III”, for which he is now a director. The game is developing according to schedule, judging from reports that have been coming out of the studio, although the developers have been relatively tight-lipped about their progress and haven’t been revealing much so far.
On a related note, those who have prepurchased the special Day One edition of “Final Fantasy Type-0” HD will get exclusive access to a playable demo for “Final Fantasy XV”, which will be bundled together with the new release. According to Square Enix, this will be the only opportunity to get one’s hands on the demo too, as the company isn’t planning on releasing the demo separately later on. Only players who’ve preordered the limited edition of Square Enix’s game will be eligible for the demo of “Final Fantasy XV”.
This move has been met with some criticism, as industry experts have pointed out that the trend of moving away from freely accessible demos has been harmful for the industry, and should be dealt away with eventually. Players have the right to know what they’re buying, and while trailers and reviews can be helpful in this regard, they can only go so far. Playing through a short – but meaningful – demo can be a perfect way to gauge a game’s potential, and make an informed decision about purchasing it. However, from what’s been shown about the new “Final Fantasy XV”, it should definitely be worth its money, especially for old-time fans of the franchise who have been waiting for a proper sequel for a long time now.
