We’ve just been given another preview of “Final Fantasy XV”, this time showing Shiva, a new summon. The unit is based on water/ice, and freezes the air around her. Players will also get to see scenes with multiple Shivas flying around, and all in all it looks like the special effects artists have been doing a fantastic job with this title so far.
Other previews for the game we’ve had a chance to see recently included a full 40-minute video showcasing the beginning of its storyline, and the preview has been enjoying a lot of attention from gamers all over. It looks like this installment in the franchise could have a chance of attracting fresh new fans, instead of appealing to the old core audience of the series.
The studio has been doing a great job with the game’s promotion too, as we’ve seen various special deals that have been drawing more and more attention to it, including a custom edition of the Xbox One console.
It’s not rare for consoles to get these special editions around the release of a more special game, and pretty much everyone was expecting “Final Fantasy XV” to get some special treatment like that as well. We’re curious to see if more similar deals come out in the future, and some players have been calling for promotions related to the past installments in the franchise.
This might actually be a great opportunity for Square Enix to expand their audience and introduce more people to the “Final Fantasy” series, as it’s certainly true that many people today haven’t even heard the name.
According to some fans, this is not necessarily due to lack of marketing, but rather because the series has a more niche style that tends to only attract some kinds of gamers. This is not a bad thing at all of course, and Square Enix have managed to capitalize on that factor pretty well over the years.
But gaming is an even more popular hobby today than ever before, and a series like “Final Fantasy” could have an even better chance of getting recognized and building a solid name for itself if it’s given the right kind of push.
It’s also obvious that Square Enix haven’t forgotten the roots of the franchise, as they’re making some very deliberate references to the older games in the new “Final Fantasy XV”, so it would make even more sense for them to revisit them in their marketing.
Some critics have noticed a more “classic” approach to the storytelling and gameplay in the previews we’ve been shown so far, so it’s clear that the series is going back to its origins at least in some capacity. There were plenty of innovative ideas in the previous “Final Fantasy” games, so there is definitely lots of source for inspiration if the developers need it.
No matter what happens with this release, it’s still amazing that this franchise has managed to survive for so long and is still relevant today. “Final Fantasy” has gone through quite a lot over the years, and it must have taken a lot of courage to keep it afloat, but the final result must be a good feeling for the developers.
With about two months left to go before we finally see “Final Fantasy XV”, excitement has been growing stronger and stronger within the community, with many fans wishing for more previews of the game. Square Enix, however, seem to be very insistent on controlling the flow of information as precisely as possible.
