Final Fantasy XIV Gets Updated in January, New Dungeons and Content Added!

Square Enix seem to have a lot on their plate as far as “Final Fantasy” is concerned – the studio is reportedly working on the 15th installment in the series, while also planning an online spin-off from it on the side, and they’re still finding time to support the more recent “Final Fantasy XIV Online: A Realm Reborn” with major content updates, the latest of which is scheduled for release by the end of this month.

Version 2.5 of the game will introduce various improvements and gameplay additions, and it was announced recently on the official website of the game. It will feature a major portion of the game’s final scene, titled “Before the Fall”, while also including the last part of the game, called “The World of Darkness”. New dungeons and more raid content will be introduced as well, including extra content for the “Crystal Tower” 24-player raid.

Players will also be able to engage in a new fight against Odin the Dark Divinity Legend, or take part in the new adventures of Hildibrand. Those who enjoy hunting for materials and crafting them together into new gear should definitely enjoy the new update as well, as it brings about various extra goodies and new content specifically for them.

This isn’t all that Square Enix have planned for this title either, as they still have more content to release over the next few months, including major gameplay additions such as private airships and flying mounts, as well as new jobs that players can take on. A new card game is scheduled to be added as well, as well as Chocobo racing and breeding, although those will be added at a later stage, in version 2.51 which is scheduled for some time in the next few months.

Square Enix have also been hard at work fixing various bugs and small technical issues. While the game has been in a more or less stable condition for quite some time now, there are still some small problems with it that have been in need of attention, and Square Enix have been doing a fine job paying attention to those little things and keeping everyone happy. In the end, proper maintenance of a game isn’t just about constantly adding new content, but also making sure that this content is playable and stable.

The studio’s efforts have obviously been fruitful, judging by player responses, as the game has managed to retain a solid, stable player base for a long time now, even managing to draw in new players on a regular basis, something which many online games tend to struggle with after some time has passed since their initial release.
