Final Fantasy 15 Themed PS4 Announced for Europe and North America, to be Released as the Luna Edition

It was recently announced that Square Enix and Sony have joined forces to launch a special edition slim PS4 console with a Final Fantasy 15 design on it, as a part, when the game finally releases in Japan.

Square Enix’s Hajime Tabata, at the PlayStation pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference, announced on the 13th of September 2016. Sony’s PlayStation model, which got remodelled lately is getting a distinct “Luna Edition”, on the occasion of the release of Final Fantasy 15.

Later on, Sony confirmed in a blog post that the Final Fantasy themed slim console, which was initially announced for Japan, will also be available in the United States and Canada.

It is called the Limited Delux Edition Bundle and will feature a 1TB hard drive with an illustration of a moon etched on its front. The console also features an additional DualShock 4 features a Final Fantasy XV graphic. Other than that the title comes with a steel book case flaunting some striking art.

The package of Final Fantasy 15 also contains some other cool stuff like the copy of the title’s movie Kingsglaive, and multiple pieces of downloadable contents in the form of the Royal Raiment Outfit, the Leviathan Regalia skin the Masamune weapon.

According to reports, the console will be on sale exclusively at Gamespot. Even though, the release date of the bundle is yet to be announced. The price of the console in North America has been announced.

The PlayStation Blog announced that the Deluxe Edition set will cost $449 stateside. The console will release on the 29th of November, this year, which is the same day Final Fantasy 15 is expected to release worldwide, and will be priced at 39,980 yen, in Japan.

Apart from the Luna Edition bundle, Europe will also receive a standard version of Final Fantasy XV bundle, which would include a Jet Black PlayStation 4, one-terabyte hard-drive, plus, a copy of Final Fantasy XV on Blu-ray disc.

After announcing the PS4 slim luna edition, the game’s director Hajime Tabata also revealed during the PlayStation’s pre-Tokyo Game Show that the design for Final Fantasy 15 is inspired by Noctis (who is the title’s main character) looking up at the moon during the road trip travels, which will characterize the game’s narrative.

Square Enix has dedicated a lot of energy on Final Fantasy 15 to ensure its success that’s no secret. After over a decade in development, Final Fantasy 15 has a lot of expectations to live up to in the eyes of fans all over the world.

Expectations were made even bigger by the fact that it is the newest instalment in an iconic JRPG series. That is probably why Square Enix is leaving no stone unturned, it is even producing a feature-length of the movie franchise, Kingsglaive, and screening it in selected theatres in the United States and Japan.

The success of Final Fantasy 15 in Japan could determine whether or not JRPGs on a console platform will be measured as a viable option going forward.

Hence, Square has rather cleverly tried to remedy both the declining number of console gamers in Japan and the sales figures for Final Fantasy 15 when it announced that it will be teaming up with Sony and publish a special edition of Final Fantasy XV, PS4 Slim console.

The price of the game being released on the 29th of November, includes a copy of the Kingsglaive, a film of the game as well as a copy of Final Fantasy 15 itself.
