Filming for ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Now Underway

The finale of “The Walking Dead” Season 5 aired on AMC on March 29. It has not been two months since but filming for the upcoming sixth season of the holocaust survival horror TV series is already underway, reports Melty.

Apparently, the cast and production crew of the very successful “The Walking Dead” are back in the filming location of Manchester, Georgia for the highly-anticipated yet close-guarded Season 6 of the TV series.

Practically all kibitzers are craning their necks and opening their ears wide for every possible news update regarding the cast for whatever news they can get their hands onto regarding “The Walking Dead” Season 6.

There’s one actual news that may slightly impact the current filming of sixth season of “The Walking Dead” and it’s the recent arrest of actor Seth Gilliam on three counts of speeding, driving under the influence (DUI) and drug possession charges. The last offense is quite serious and may take him off the set for quite some time.

Gilliam is set to reprise his role as Father Gabriel on Season 6 and his arrest would likely reduce his character in the series.

Images from the first day of shooting

“The Walking Dead” fan website called ‘The Spoiling Dead Fans’ created a media buzz a few days ago when it posted images of the first day of shooting for “The Walking Dead” Season 6.

The photos revealed the construction of some new houses around the Alexandria Safe Zone. There is still no report yet on who will occupy the space but it will be a safe to assume that the situation in Alexandria will be tense after Rick summarily executed Jessie’s abusive husband for stabbing Reg to death in the final episode of Season 5.

A couple of images also showed the production crew and some cast members quite busy on the rural Georgia set.

Season 6 of “The Walking Dead” is set to premiere this coming fall and given that the series is targeting to complete the full 16 episodes, everyone should be hard at work by this time until a few more months.

One of the pictures also show actor Steven Yeun, who plays Glen Rhee in the series, along with some others, making their way across the grounds. There is also a shot of executive producer Greg Nicotero observing as shooting gets underway in one of the buildings that make up the Alexandria Safe Zone.

Since the pictures were actually taken from a distance by kibitzers, it is all up to fans to put their own versions of the captions on the images based on their assumptions and presumptions since nothing will surely come off the mouths of the cast members and the production crew with regards to “The Walking Dead” Season 6.
