Filming for ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2’ Begins; June 2016 Release Date Eyed

Cowabanga, the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” will be back in the theaters in June of next year as reports have it that filming for the second installment of the rebooted franchise last year has officially began.

According to Yahoo! News, actor Will Arnett was recently seen already filming for the movie. Arnett is reprising his role as cameraman Vernon Fenwick of Channel 6. In “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” shown last year, he has the hots for Megan Fox who played the role of April O’Neil.

April was unmindful of the feelings of Vernon, treating him instead as a co-worker and a colleague. On the second installment, which is rumored to have the title “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell,” the actor would get a new love interest in the person of Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio.

Getting cosy

Will Arnett was seen during a game between the New York Knicks and the LA Clippers getting cosy with Ambrosio but accordingly, it was part of a shoot that he and the supermodel are doing for the movie.

In addition to Ambrosio, some of the LA Clippers players that include Chris Paul and Blake Griffin may also have cameo appearances in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.”

In fact, it was Clippers player J.J. Reddick who accidentally let loose about the official title of the movie when he mentioned it during a recent interview.

However, it could also be that the title was just a production code for the filming of the sequel of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and not the official title.

The teenage mutant ninja turtles were spawned from a lab experiment that gone haywire. The four of them along with their sensei, Master Splitter, live in the sewers beneath New York City.

Returning actors

The actors who voiced and played the roles of Raphael, Michaelangelo, Leonardo, and Donatello – Allan Ritchson, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek and Jeremy Howard, respectively, will definitely be back for the sequel.

And so are Megan Fox and William Fichtner, who played the role of villain Eric Sacks in the first film. Danny Woodburn who played the role of Master Splitter would most likely be back as well.

It is still not clear if Director Jonathan Liebesman will also be back since he has already agreed to direct the next sequel to the “Transformers” franchise. But considering the release dates of the movie – “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2” will be released on June 2016 while “Transformers 5” is expected to hit theaters in 2017 yet, it looks like Liebesman will helm both films.

Despite getting poor reviews from critics, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” made a worldwide box office haul of $485 million which was a success by any language, necessitating a follow-up movie, which may actually surpass the first film’s box-office take.
