In the last week of March, reports came out that the filming for the “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” shall be delayed by two weeks while the production crew were awaiting for the return of lead actor Johnny Depp, following his hand injury early in March that needed minor surgery.
The 51-year-old actor flew back to Los Angeles to undergo operation on his hand and also to recuperate in the company of his newly-wedded wife, the 28-year-old Amber Heard.
The injury on Johnny Depp had nothing to do with the filming but the actor decided to go home to LA to have the minor surgery done on his injured hand.
It was initially disclosed then that the filming would not be affected by the sudden departure of Depp since there will be other scenes to shoot that do not have Captain Jack Sparrow, the character being played by Johnny Depp in the movie, in it.
But apparently, the production team have completed filming of the other scenes but the actor has yet to get back to Australia to resume shooting.
On March 26, the production team has announced to some 200 crew that they would not be working for the next two weeks until the actor comes back to the set. Resumption of filming in the Gold Coast for the movie, that shall have an official title of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” was reportedly set on April 15.
Pushed back
Apparently, resumption of filming was pushed further back to April 20 since it will also be the time when Johnny Depp will be returning to the set to complete the scenes of Captain Jack Sparrow.
Mal Tulloch, Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance director for entertainment crew and sport, disclosed that the production crew had each received letters from the filmmakers saying resumption of filming will be good to go again on April 20, reports the Gold Coast Bulletin.
The same correspondence also told employees that they should resume work as early as April 16 to allow for two days preparation. The production company also made travel arrangements for the production crew who needed to return to the city.
Tulloch said that after more than three weeks of hiatus, everyone is roaring to get back to work and finish the job. He added that it’s a pretty huge production and requires a lot of people not only in the Gold Coast in Queensland but all across Australia.
The workers also expect that resumption of filming will no longer be pushed back any further since Johnny Depp is already back and that it would be more cost-efficient for the production company to get the job done soon than delay it any further.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tells No Tales” is a multi-million dollar collaboration by Disney Studios and Jerry Bruckheimer Productions. It is due to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.

Something tells me he’s going to have to bring his jinx of a wife with him. Which means more fights and probably more delays. The last Pirates sounds like its in a black cloud already. Well, good luck.
