‘Fight Club’ Sequel Comes in the Form of Comic Book and Board Game!

The “Fight Club” movie was shown in theaters in 1999 starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter, directed by David Fincher. The movie was based on the graphic novel written by Chuck Palahniuk.

Although the novel and the movie were both very successful and highly talked about, nothing has been heard of a likely sequel until 2013 when rumors started going around that Chuck Palahniuk was already working on the sequel of his graphic novel, reports The Verge.

Now it’s official. There will be “Fight Club 2” but it’s not going to be a graphic novel like its predecessor and nobody still knows whether a movie version might be in the works too in the future.

Apparently, “Fight Club 2” will be coming out as a comic book to be released by Dark Horse Comics on May 27, though a free issue preview will be released during the Comic Book Store Day on May 2, notes Movieweb.

A preview of the comic book

Playboy has just released the first six pages of the comic book on its site including its artwork cover, where it specifically indicated that it is written by Chuck Palahniuk and illustrated by Cameron Stewart.

Based on the initial pages that were already released, “Fight Club 2” picks up almost 10 years after the original novel.

Tyler Durden, the anonymous narrator and main character, who now calls himself Sebastian, is already married to Marla Singer and struggling to be a good father to his nine-year-old son.

Sebastian has move on from his days at the fight club because of his prescription meds and medical marijuana. Marla on the other hand struggles to fit into her new life and responsibilities. There is also their son who seems to have taken off from the bad traits of Tyler Durden and is in fact making gunpowder in his bedroom even at a young age.

Tyler and Marla were played by Brad Pitt and Helena Bonham Carter in the movie version of the original novel. In the novel, Marla really has a passing resemblance to the British actress, whom Chuck Palahniuk might have really thought of when he was writing the novel.

A ‘Fight Club’ board game

Apart from the first six pages preview of “Fight Club 2,” the sequel shall come with a unique Fight Club board game to help promote the comic book novel.

But it will not be an actual board game that will be sold separately. The board game’s simple instructions are printed right on the board and what are needed to play it is a six-sided dice and a couple of friends to play the game.
