For the fans of the very popular book, Fifty Shades of Grey, waiting around for the movie version of the story has been a long time coming. In recent news, the Fifty Shades of Grey movie is reportedly coming to the United States, but it will have an R-Rating. For those that read the book, it is not going to come as much of a surprise knowing the content of the books, but the reason that the MPAA gives for the rating is a little more interesting.
Granted, you can expect to see some very graphic nudity as expected and if you have watched any movie in your life, you would know that will get you an R-Rating for sure. The MPAA said that the rating comes after seeing that the movie will contain “strong sexual content including dialog, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity”. With that being said, you would expect to see an R-rating at least, but why not an NC-17 rating?
The director of the movie made comments when the movie was first announced that there would be more than one movie version released. The R-rated version and a more explicit version that was easily going to get an NC-17 rating. For the most part, NC-17 movies are not shown in theaters and typically will go right to DVD or Blu-ray. Everyone that wants to see the movie can enjoy the R-rated version and if they want to see more after that, the NC-17 version will be ready for them as well, according to the director.
At this time, sources are only talking about the R-rated version that is coming to theaters and there has not been that much talk about the release of the NC-17 rated version. According to a few sources online, the new movie based on the top selling book will be in theaters all over the United States on February 13th. The movie is based on the popular book by EL James and will star Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively.
The popular erotic thriller story was released back in 2011 and is reportedly going to be the first installment in a series of books released by the British author. At first, the book was published as an eBook and a print on demand style book, but publishing rights for the title were acquired by Vintage Books in 2012.
