The sequel will see the billionaire continuing to wrestle his inner demons brought upon by a complicated childhood.
James Foley will be directing the last two films replacing Sam Taylor-Johnson who directed the first film. Author E.L. James’ husband wrote the screenplay for the second movie.
“Fifty Shades Darker” will also introduce Grey’s business partner and former sexual partner, Elena Lincoln also known as Mrs. Robinson.
Lincoln will be played by “L.A. Confidential” actress Kim Basinger. The 62-year-old actress was the first one to be added to the cast list.
In the original source material, Christian will open up to Anastasia about how his BDSM relationships started and revealed that he was first introduced to it when he was 15 by her mother’s friend Elena.
Anastasia was furious to learn that Christian still has a connection with Mrs. Lincoln and that the Grey family is completely unaware of Christian’s and Elena’s previous relationship.
Basinger has not been spotted on the set yet, but if the film will stay true to the novel, her first appearance will be during the charity gala the Grey family hosted where she meets Ana for the first time.
Former cast members Eloise Mumford, Luke Grimes, Rita Ora, and Victor Rasuk will be reprising their roles as Kate Kavanagh, Elliot Grey, Mia Grey, and Jose Rodriguez, respectively.
