Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for the upcoming movie “Fifty Shades Darker” and it’s definitely sexier than the first one, which was released back in September.
The two-minute clip sees the fun and games will change for Dakota Johnson’s Ana Steele and Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey. It also does a great job of teasing viewers all the steamy scenes they are about to get when the show hits theaters in February next year.
Miguel’s version of Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love” was once again heard all throughout the trailer. Beyonce created a sultry version of her hit song for “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
The second film in the controversial “Fifty Shades” trilogy will see the developments in Christian and Ana’s relationship. The first movie ended with Ana leaving Mr. Grey after admitting that she has fallen for him, but the billionaire could not give her a normal relationship.
While the first teaser gives viewers a sneak peek of the movie’s plot such as the masquerade ball where Christian’s family will know of his horrible childhood with Mrs. Robinson, the second trailer excites fans with all the iconic scenes from the book coming to life, in addition to another sexy elevator scene.
Fans will remember that the first official trailer for the movie amassed 114 million views in its first 24 hours in various digital platforms. It was beaten in November when “Beauty and the Beast” live-action remake released its official trailer.
“Fifty Shades Darker” picks up months after the events of the first film and will see Christian attempting to get Ana back. He will, in turn, agree to Ana’s conditions of a no-rule relationship, and will see how he will mellow up to Ms. Steele.
One iconic scene in the book that was featured in the trailer was the scene where Christian allows Ana to touch him. Readers of the source material will know that Mr. Grey finds it hard to be touched by his submissive.
This scene was a pivotal moment in the whole trilogy as it showed the drastic change Christian was willing to undergo just to be with Ana.
However, it’s not all romance and fun, the film will uncover the darker side of Christian and will introduce people in his life that will impact Ana more than she thinks it will.
The trailer also highlights the film’s antagonists, Leila Williams, Jack Hyde, and Mrs. Robinson. The characters, played by Bella Heathcote, Eric Johnson, and Kim Basinger, respectively, is set to create some problems for Christian and Ana.
Readers of the novel know that Leila was Christian’s former submissive who ends up stalking Ana. She is then revealed to become estranged after Christian ended their relationship.
Her suicide attempt near the novel’s end served as a game changer for Ana if she could accept Christian in her life or not.
Jack Hyde is Ana’s boss in the publishing company that Christian eventually buys. He is attracted to Ana as seen in the trailer and attempts to get physical with her despite her unwillingness.
Hyde’s character was mostly evident in the first half of the novel, but his presence was emphasized in the last book, “Fifty Shades Freed” where he will enact his revenge on Christian and Ana.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Robinson, also known as Elena Lincoln, was Christian’s former dominant and her current business partner, a fact that did not sit well with Ana.
In the trailer, Elena is seen talking to Ana during the masquerade ball telling her if she thinks she’s the first woman who tried to change Christian. Ana backpedals and tells that he believes Grey has changed a lot since he met her.
