Things are about to become darker for Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.
Universal Pictures has finally released the first full trailer for the highly-anticipated movie “Fifty Shades Darker” and it spells more drama for the two leads.
The trailer previews another version of Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love,” this time, sung by Miguel. In the short clip, Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey urges Dakota Johnson’s Ana to come back in his life after the events of “‘Fifty Shades of Grey.”
The handsome businessman sends the timid Ana flowers and says that he did not expect that their relationship will take a toll on him.
It then cuts to a masquerade party where Ana is seen putting on her mask. This scene alludes to the cover of the novel where the film is based on.
Before the video clip, a short teaser has been released to announce the arrival of the trailer. The official poster, in which Ana dons a mask with Christian behind her, was also released.
Surprisingly, the two-minute clip gave more than steamy scenes between the two leads. In fact, it was able to convey a huge amount of plot. An airplane crash and a car chase scene which hints the film will have some actions on it.
However, the shower scene between Christian and Ana was enough for the fans to know that the next film will not be short of steaminess.
Fans of the novel know that the second book revolves around Christian breaking barriers against his BDSM for Ana to be in his life.
The novel also revealed Christian’s past with Elena Lincoln and introduces Leila Williams, Grey’s estranged former submissive as well as Jack Hyde, Ana’s brooding boss.
Bella Heathcote portrays Leila. In the trailer, she was seen watching Christian and Ana sleep. She also appears in the last few seconds asking Ana if she thinks she was the first one who tried to save Christian.
Leila looks disturbed and hell bent on destroying Ana’s relationship with Christian. For those who have read the novel, a mentally unstable Leila broke in Ana’s apartment and had her at gunpoint. Luckily, Christian pacifies the situation.
Eric Johnson plays Jack Hyde, Ana’s boss who has an infatuation for her. In the novel, Hyde attempts to sexually abuse Ana but she manages to escape and runs to Christian. Jack Hyde plays a larger role in the third film.
The trailer was able to give a glimpse of that encounter with Jack cornering Ana near the door of his office and then cutting to a frightened Ana running into Christian’s arms.
The trailer also gave a sneak peek of Kim Basinger’s Elena Lincoln/Mrs. Robinson during the masquerade ball.
In the clip, Ana runs away from Christian and he sees Mrs. Robinson who probably spoke to Ana prior.
Mrs. Robinson was actually the one who introduced Christian to the world of BDSM. In fact, he was her former submissive. While this may be fine with Ana, the fact that Mrs. Robinson and Grey own a business together bothers her.
Reports suggest that the upcoming movie will focus less on Ana and Christian’s intimate scenes and more on the major plot of the book itself. It will also shed some light on the billionaire’s childhood and why he grew up to be eccentric.
To celebrate Ms. Steele’s birthday, author E.L James has released excerpts from the new “Fifty Shades” book which details the same story, but this time from Mr. Grey’s point of view.
In the first film, Ana and Christian enter a sexual contract with Ana attempting to convince Christian to have a normal and romantic relationship. Ana leaves in distraught after she can’t take Christian’s ways anymore.
