FIFA 16 or PES 2016: Who Will Be the Champion?

Brand rivalry exists in many places, and the entertainment market is definitely no exception, particularly when it comes to sports games. The “FIFA” and “PES” franchises have been among the most actively competing video game titles in history, and their upcoming new releases have generated a lot of hype in their respective communities, and of course a lot of discussion about which game is superior.

Both franchises are developed on an annual basis, with a new installment coming every year and refining the gameplay even further, while also improving the graphics and making the whole experience smoother and more accessible to newcomers. There have been lots of arguments about the merits of both franchises, and while EA seem to be pulling ahead for the most part, both games have their own advantages and disadvantages that should be considered.

The publishers of both games have managed to secure exclusive licenses for a different league, which is one of the main rea sons for the divide in the games’ communities, and also one of the reasons why some players choose to get both, on the other hand. Those who want to enjoy the UEFA Champions League have to go with “PES”, and have been requesting a solution to the problem to EA for a long time now.

Of course, there’s little that EA can do without the license that Konami currently have access to. Konami have been very active in evolving the gameplay of their franchise as well, experimenting with new mechanics that don’t always work out perfectly, but in the end the quality of the gameplay has been moving forward.

Players have been commenting that some aspects of “PES” require a bit more skill and dedication to perform adequately, while “FIFA” on the other hand is aimed at making the game more accessible to newcomers and making them feel more at home with its different mechanics. While both games are relatively easy to get into and hard to master, it’s true that “FIFA” tends to do a bit more “hand-holding” for its players for some of the more complicated gameplay mechanics.

Konami are also guilty of that to some extent though – the game doesn’t require the precise calculations for its passes that previous installments in the series involved, for example, and the gameplay has been moving in an overall more streamlined direction, although admittedly not as much as with “FIFA”.

Another aspect in which “PES” shines is realism, and the franchise definitely has the upper hand over “FIFA” in this regard, with various features in its graphics and gameplay that make it more realistic and immersive.

  1. PES has amazing gameplay, better than Fifa,no questions about it but it is plagued by fake teams, limited licenses, limited stadiums and few other things but it plays fantastic and I can’t wait to see what’s new with the 2016 version. I really hope they add more features and many more stadiums, players, etc…
