‘Fast & Furious 8’ Will See Dame Helen Mirren Helping Jason Statham Break Free from Jail

While “Fast & Furious 8” will be hitting worldwide theaters on April 14, 2017 yet, several names of actresses have made the rounds in the internet as possibly the new cast members of the eight installment of the successful movie franchise.

Among them are Eva Mendes, who shall reportedly be reprising her role as Customs agent Monica Fuentes, which she last took on during “2 Fast 2 Furious” back in 2003. She also momentarily appeared in the post-credits of “Fast & Furious 5” back in 2011 where she said that Letty Ortiz, portrayed by Michelle Rodriguez, was still alive.

Mendes will reportedly be causing a stir on the relationship of Dominic ‘Dom’ Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, and Letty Ortiz.

The next name that came out is Hollywood icon and British actress, Dame Helen Mirren. But she will be taking on a villain role just like British actor Jason Statham was in “Fast & Furious 7.” Apparently, Helen Mirren will be responsible for helping Deckard Shaw, the character played by Jason Statham, to break free from jail in “Fast & Furious 8,” details the International Business Times of India.

Deckard Shaw was the villain in “Fast & Furious 7” and he ended up in jail towards the end after Dominic Toretto and company got the better of him and his extreme revenge motive.

In a recent interview, Vin Diesel said that it would be a great honor for everyone in the cast of the “Fast & Furious” franchise to be joined by Helen Mirren simply because it’s Helen.

For her part, Helen said that joining Vin Diesel and company in the successful movie franchise is not just an honor for her but also one of her great ambitions as an actress.

As far as Jason Statham is concerned, he said that he was just a newcomer who got invited to the party. He added that it was nice to know that he is going to do another movie for the very successful movie franchise.

Statham said that the producers of the franchise always have something good up their sleeves and he does not want to be the one who spoils everything. But he added that he already knows of some great stuff about the upcoming sequel.

Third new female cast

The third female name to come out as new cast members of “Fast & Furious 8” is Ruby Rose of “Orange is the New Black” fame.

Ruby Rose is the breakout star of Season 3 of “Orange is the New Black” TV series, playing the role of inmate Stella Carlin, which made her practically a household name, notes News Every Day.

Apparently, Ruby Rose auditioned for a part in “Fast & Furious 7” a few years ago but was rejected because one of the cast members allegedly described her as someone who looks like pop singer Justin Bieber.

Universal Studios is reportedly making amends and is now considering the Australian actress to become part of the upcoming “Fast & Furious 8.

There were reports that the studio has already reached out to Ruby Rose recently with the intention of casting her for the “Fast & Furious” spin-off film that shall focus on Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s character, Agent Luke Hobbs.
