British veteran actress Helen Mirren was previously reported to become a cast member of the eighth film in the car racing movie franchise “Fast & Furious,” which started when she and Vin Diesel, the main star and one of the producers of the series, appeared together in “The Last Witchhunter” shown last year.
Accordingly, Helen has told Vin that it has been her long-time dream to appear in the “Fast & Furious” film and she wants to be in it if she would be allowed to drive a fast car.
As one of the producers of “Fast & Furious 8,” Vin Diesel decided to take her in but not before quipping that Helen should be careful what she wishes for because she might just get it. And indeed, she got it.
Last week, it has already been confirmed that Helen Mirren will be part of “Fast & Furious 8,” and the veteran actress also validated it in a recent interview.
During the interview, Mirren said that she has always loved driving but she does not know yet what role she would be playing in “Fast & Furious 8.” She adds that if she is given the opportunity to drive a fast car in the movie, she would not think twice about it.
She said that being in an action movie will give her a break from her often serious roles in films. She also said that her claim to fame as far as driving is concerned is the fact that she was once on Top Gear where her lap time was very good, details The Sun of UK.
A big bad role
Last year, in another interview, she said that if she was given the chance to become part of “Fast & Furious 8,” she would like to take on the role of a mad driver, reports the Ecumenical News.
There have been reports until early this year that Mirren shall be the villain in the upcoming movie as she will break out Deckard Shaw, the character being played in the TV series by Jason Statham, from prison and they would work together to plan a revenge against Dominic Toretto and his team.
However, as of late, the reports suggest that it would be actress Charlize Theron who will take on the main villain role in “Fast & Furious 8,” which would relegate the role of Helen Mirren from a big bad to something else.
The veteran actress, who was vested the title of Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order by the British Empire in December 2013, has an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and BAFTA awards to her name. She has likewise received her Hollywood Walk of Fame star back in 2013.
One thing is sure according to critics, the addition of Helen Mirren to the franchise is sure to attract more viewers and followers because aside from her own fan base, she is also a great actress that deserves a worthy character in “Fast & Furious 8.”
Making life difficult for Toretto and company
Jason Statham, playing the role of Deckard Shaw, was the big bad during “Fast & Furious 7” when it was shown in April of last year.
Before the start of filming for “Fast & Furious 8,” the reports were saying Jason Statham and Helen Mirren will reportedly team up to make life a tad difficult for the team of Dominic ‘Dom’ Toretto, played by Vin Diesel.
Apparently, it was just half of the speculations as latest reports have it that it is going to be award-winning actress Charlize Theron who is going to play the biggest and worst villain of “Fast & Furious 8.”
Theron shall reportedly play the role of Cipher and it seems that she will exceed the meanness of Deckard Shaw, who might become part of Toretto’s group in the eighth installment of the successful car racing action film franchise.
Incidentally, a new behind-the-scenes video of the “Fast & Furious 8” team was recently released online showing the big stars of the movie all in one room along with director F. Gary Gray one week after their historic filming in Cuba in April.
