“Fast & Furious 7” may have gone on to become the fourth biggest grossing movie of all time, but producers have reportedly admitted a casting mistake by not including Ruby Rose who auditioned for the movie.
Everyone who is familiar with “Orange is the New Black” TV series knows that Ruby Rose is the breakout star of the show’s Season 3 that she is actually now a household name.
Apparently, Ruby Rose auditioned for a part in “Fast & Furious 7” a few years ago but was rejected because one of the cast members allegedly described her as someone who looks like pop singer Justin Bieber.
Universal Studios is reportedly making amends and is now considering the Australian actress to become part of the upcoming “Fast & Furious 8,” which is scheduled to be shown on worldwide theaters on April 14, 2017.
There were reports that the studio has already reached out to Ruby Rose recently with the intention of casting her for the “Fast & Furious” spin-off film that shall focus on Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s character, Agent Luke Hobbs, cites Christian Today.
Love triangle
Before the inclusion of Ruby Rose in the casting rumors for “Fast & Furious 8,” it was also reported that actress Eva Mendes will return to the franchise to reprise her roles as undercover Customs agent Monica Fuentes.
She first appeared in the movie of the franchise back in 2003 during “2 Fast 2 Furious,” the first sequel. She also momentarily appeared in the post-credits of “Fast & Furious 5” back in 2011 where she said that Letty Ortiz was still alive.
Along with her pretty face, Mendes will also be causing a stir on the relationship of Dominic ‘Dom’ Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, and Letty Ortiz, portrayed by Michelle Rodriguez.
Michelle Rodriguez, in a recent interview, said that girls should stop fighting each other and instead start uniting for once, in reference to the alleged love triangle plot involving her character.
She, however, said that everything is speculation at this time until the film starts shooting and the cast members begin to immortalize stuff on the film, notes Enstarz.
She added that if she were to do the next film in the series, she will make it all-encompassing and holistic to make it appeal to an even broader audience. She believes that striking a balance to make women characters powerful will also be good for the next film, which was evidently shown by “Mad Max: Fury Road” quite recently.
Other possible cast members
There were reports that Jason Statham will also be returning on “Fast & Furious 8” to reprise his role of Deckard Shaw.
In a recent interview, Statham confirmed that he signed up to play Deckard Shaw again for “Fast & Furious 8” and that he was just a newcomer who got invited to the party. He added that it was nice to know that he is going to do another movie for the very successful movie franchise.
In addition to the British action star, Hollywood icon and British Dame, actress Helen Mirren is reportedly being groomed to play a villain role in “Fast & Furious 8,” which according to Vin Diesel would be a great honor for everyone in the cast because it’s Helen Mirren.
For her part, Helen said that joining Vin Diesel and company in the successful movie franchise is not just an honor for her but also one of her great ambitions as an actress.
Vin Diesel previously confirmed in an interview that veteran actor Kurt Russell will be back on the next installment of the movie franchise.
Apparently, the actor signed up not just for one movie but three so it means that Kurt Russell is still good until the ninth installment of the movie.
