‘Fast & Furious 8’ The Rock Shares First Photo of a Darker Agent Luke Hobbs

Diesel has announced that the ninth and tenth films will be released on April 19, 2019, and April 2, 2021, respectively.

Details about the upcoming film are still scarce, but now that production is in full swing, fans can expect more information from time to time.

“Fast and the Furious 8” will be the first film in the final trilogy of the franchise. It’s also the first film not to feature lead star Paul Walker, who played Brian O’Conner, until his untimely death back in 2013.

Walker died in a single-car collision back in November 2013. He was in the middle of filming “Fast & Furious 7,” hence, the rest of his scenes were completed by his brothers.

Initially, it was rumored that his brother, Cody, will be the actor behind O’Conner’s role but these rumors were denied by the studio.

In the franchise, Brian decided to leave Dom and the crew in order to focus on being a husband to Jordana Brewster’s Mia and a father to their two kids.

Producer Neal Moritz has confirmed that Paul’s character will not appear in the eighth film despite their use of CGI in the final scene of the last film.

The producer also said that he would like the upcoming film to focus on a series heist films to a spy caper following a similar change in focus from “Fast Five.”
