Fans Want Ubisoft to Take Their Time with Assassin’s Creed: Victory!

Gamers are a strange community as a whole. On one hand, delays in games’ development are usually met with strong disapproval and criticism, while on the other, the concept of “too much too fast” seems to be quite prevalent among many gamers as well. For example, Activision have been criticized for releasing “Call of Duty” too rapidly, and some gamers have claimed that the game’s release cycle has left them burned out. While this hasn’t done anything to affect the franchise’s popularity (apparently), it’s still being mentioned regularly. And now, fans of Ubisoft have been expressing similar sentiments regarding their upcoming “Assassin’s Creed: Victory”.

Recently, a major leak was released that showed various aspects of the game, including its setting and theme. And while many seemed excited to get some early news about the new “Assassin’s Creed”, there was also a wave of disappointment noticeable throughout the comments in general.

According to most fans, Ubisoft have started to rush the development of the franchise to unacceptable levels. The leak came out shortly after the release of “Assassin’s Creed: Unity”, which was perhaps the main contributing factor to its negative reception. “Unity” was released to very poor reception, as the game was riddled with technical issues, problems with its gameplay and overall presentation.

And from what was known, the problems could have been avoided if Ubisoft weren’t so intent to meet their release deadline. This, according to some critics, made even less sense when the studio was releasing another “Assassin’s Creed” game at the same time, as they could have easily delayed the release of “Assassin’s Creed: Unity” in order to give it more polish.

The leak about the next game was seen as confirmation that the studio is rushing through things, as it showed a game that was apparently already a bit ahead in its development. Which, in turn, could mean that Ubisoft are trying to make another release soon. The response of a majority of fans has been that the studio should take a step back and reevaluate what they’re doing, at least if they want to preserve the integrity of the series.

Ubisoft haven’t responded to this yet, other than to confirm that the leak was genuine and that the game was in development – something which didn’t exactly help to calm down the nerves of fans. Still, this doesn’t mean that the company isn’t paying attention, and it’s likely that they’ve learned a thing or two from the fiasco with “Unity”. Whether or not this will be apparent in the development of “Assassin’s Creed: Victory” is early to tell, but the franchise’s damaged reputation could certainly benefit from a properly made and polished game.
